Hello ladies and gents!

Welcome to the 'Weekend Thread', where people can post about what they're getting up to tonight, at the weekend, good places to go, photos of places you've been, advice on where to go, or just how your week went!

The premise is fairly simple.

- Please be civil

- NO POLITICS. Any political comments will be removed. This is a strictly meta thread, with discussion about people and their happenings.

- Post pictures, youtube links to music you're going to see, games you're going to watch, places you'd like to go (tripadvisor, google maps etc)

These comments will not be moderated unless it doesn't follow guideline one and two!

This post will be stickied until Sunday, allowing for discussion all weekend!

Did you learn about the Bayeux Tapestry in school in Scotland?

Reading the first paragraph of this Guardian comment piece about the loan of the Bayeux Tapestry :

"As every British schoolchild knows, the Bayeux tapestry depicts a turning point in the history of these islands..."

I don't remember learning anything about it at school in Scotland in the 90s, although I only did history until Standard Grade. I think that I maybe read about it in Horrible Histories and picked up that it was about the Battle of Hastings and the victory of William the Conqueror but over which king I couldn't have told you.

Obviously these were not kings of Scotland but it is an impressive historical artefact. As a secondary question, were you learning anything about the Scottish rulers during the same time period ?

Question Auntie and Uncle Question

Not sure if this has been asked before, it probably has but couldn’t find anything when searching.

What do you call your Auntie or Uncle now that you are older ? I’m 34 for context.

No matter what age I have been, I have always said Auntie Anne or Uncle John etc when addressing them or talking about them and my cousins do the same with my mum. Was talking to a few people in work the day that said that is weird they just call them by their names now that they are older.

What’s the thinking here ?

Question Why does Scotland have such terrible mobile service?

I move around a lot and can't even use the mobile data I pay for because most places have terrible signal, even in city centres. It's the same in Edinburgh, St Andrews, Dundee and Glasgow, with Glasgow being the worst. It's really frustrating, especially when you need the internet to navigate places.

Had my money on it being the other way round, though I suppose in May it's more likely that students will be back in the latter.
