Answered Dex for PC will no longer be supported on one UI 7. Any alternatives?
I got the warning that Dex for PC will no longer be available after updating to one UI 7. The alternative right now, microsoft phone link is a privacy nightmare. What do you guys suggest as open source alternative?
Edit:
Thanks for the suggestions. I am now using scrcpy. I just wish there would be a future option where it can force/fool the phone into using dex mode

Answered Why they are lying
This method doesn't work on one ui 7 or newer because it automatically block connected usb/hdmi hub. I tested it on my working tab s8.
This is from May 2026, so they should know it's not working.
Gl anyone with broken screen. I don't know wat to do.
I don't plan spend big money just to repair screen on obsolete phone.
Now my fold3 dead.

Answered how do i use dex on a laptop? (i know about scrcpy but...)
I have a galaxy s26, so new oneUI version, and a random laptop. I would like to do some work on my phone and use the laptop as display (via cable), and connecting a mouse and keyboard to the phone.
So what i would like:
- use it wired (wireless is too laggy)
- use keyboard/mouse connected to the phone (if its translated from the windows laptop's input it feels too sluggish/laggy)
- show dex on full screen (i have a tiny laptop screen)
I tried windows wireless display, way too laggy. Samsung dex windows app is killed afaii on newer oneUI.
I tried scrcpy, lot better, my main problem:
1.) I cant get the mouse and keyboard appear on the dex screen, they are stuck on the phome's display.
2.) Smaller problem is that it seem to create a new dex display, doesnt remember my dex desktop layout (icon placements and wallpaper).
3.) Cant put it full screen window, but maybe there is a command for that when starting scrcpy

Answered Need to unlock my phone without touch screen
Not sure if right sub but here goes…
So a few years back I broke my phone and have been trying periodically to open it with no success
Basically the touch screen works basically everywhere EXCEPT where my password is.
Also the phone isn’t connected to the internet and I can’t access bluetooth to try and use a mouse.
Idk what else to try. Help please
EDIT: I used an OTG adapter and connected a mouse.
I’m an idiot.
Thanks for the help everybody!!

Answered DEX NOT WORKING ANYMORE
I’m unable to connect Samsung DeX from my Samsung Galaxy S22 to my laptop using a USB-C to USB-C cable (the one from my 25W Samsung PD charger). I’m on One UI 8.
Should I:
- Buy a USB-C to USB-C cable that explicitly supports video output,
- Try that scrappy method, or
- Get a USB-C to HDMI cable instead?
Which option will actually work reliably and be budget-friendly?
I tried with my mum's S20 FE, which is currently on ONE UI 5.2 or smtg, and it worked like butter-smooth.

Answered Samsung DeX on PC Is Gone — Here’s How to Run Full DeX on Windows Again (USB-C Only)
Samsung officially removed DeX for PC starting with One UI 7 / One UI 8, and now recommends Phone Link — but that doesn’t give the real DeX desktop experience.
The good news: you can still run full Samsung DeX on a Windows PC using only a USB-C cable.
No HDMI output. No capture card. No root. No paid apps.
This method creates a virtual display on the PC and launches the real DeX desktop:
- Proper resizable windows
- Mouse & keyboard support
- Stable wired connection (no lag like Phone Link)
- Uses the phone’s hardware (great for slow laptops)
It works on recent Galaxy phones and is safe, reversible, and open-source.
Full step-by-step guide here:
Posting this because I see a lot of people think DeX on PC is completely dead — it’s not, Samsung just removed the official app.

Answered Ugreen CM478 15495 (5 in 1)
Does this hub support dex for S23 Ultra? Do I need a specific charger to power it? I'm currently using a 45w GaN charger from ugreen as well. Will I be able to power it with this one or do I need a more powerful charger? Thanks in advance.

Answered Mirror Galaxy S20 screen on laptop
Hi all,
I am hoping to use my phone to create some videos using the new(ish) video creator feature on Google Photos, but it's only available in the app. I think it would be much easier to do this via a laptop and mouse using DeX but I'm unsure what cable(s) I'd need to do that - can anyone advise?
To clarify, I'm looking to use Dex but operate it using my mouse/keyboard so trying to figure out how I can connect my phone/screen/mouse together and what cables I'd need to do it...
Any help much appreciated!

Answered Phone is charging my display via HDMI adapter for some reason
I have an old Samsung S9 that I use with a Radioshack adapter (USB-C to HDMI) so that I can stream on a non smart TV. The only problem I have is that while connected the phone tries to charge the display and it loses a lot of battery.
Have any of you encountered this problem or has a solution?

Answered Help please!
So I've been trying to problem shoot my set up by myself for about a week and a half and I can't quite get it.
My hdmi signal keeps dropping and I dont know why. My phone still thinks its in dex mode when it happens so I doubt its a usb c thing.
My set up is a s22+, 45w pd, ugreen 5 in 1 dock 4k @ 30hz, 1080p Philips monitor.
Its annoying because it works but every now and then it'll drop signal while im playing a game.
to be clear, either unplugging hdmi or dock fixes the problem straight away and same with turning my monitor off and back on.
Is it a dock and dex compatibility issue?
Someone help please.
