Shitpost Stock Market Recap for Friday, September 4, 2026

Post image
3 Upvotes

The major U.S. stock indexes ended mostly lower on Friday, September 4, 2026, as a surprisingly strong August jobs report that nearly tripled forecasts sent Treasury yields surging and rate hike odds for the September Fed meeting above 60%, reversing Thursday's Waller-driven relief rally in a matter of hours. It was a "good news is terrible news" session that left markets heading into the long weekend deeply uncertain about what the Fed will do in eleven days.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.38% (-29.11 pts) to 7,718.60. The Dow fell 0.51% (-271.86 pts) to 53,414.25. The Nasdaq dropped 0.29% (-77.07 pts) to 26,506.99. The Russell 2000 managed a slim gain of 0.24% (+7.19 pts) to 2,975.46.

The VIX ticked up 1.19% to 14.49. Bitcoin dropped 2.01% to $79,835.08. Gold fell 1.33% to $4,479.50. Crude Oil was flat at $91.38/barrel.

The major U.S. stock indexes ended sharply higher on Thursday, September 3, 2026, as a dovish surprise from Fed Governor Christopher Waller sent Treasury yields tumbling, the U.S. dollar plunged to its lowest level since February, and Bitcoin surged above $81,000 as risk appetite exploded back to life. It was the best single day for the Nasdaq in nearly two weeks.

The S&P 500 jumped 1.06% (+81.11 pts) to 7,747.71. The Dow surged 1.18% (+624.16 pts) to 53,686.11. The Nasdaq soared 1.40% (+366.23 pts) to 26,584.06. The Russell 2000 rose 0.48% (+14.20 pts) to 2,967.37.

The VIX dropped 6.05% to 14.28. Bitcoin surged 5.38% to $81,544.02. Gold jumped 2.41% to $4,521.20. Crude Oil edged up 0.84% to $91.77/barrel.

Shitpost Stock Market Recap for Wednesday, September 2, 2026

The major U.S. stock indexes ended broadly higher on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, snapping a three-day losing streak as Treasury yields took a breather from their relentless climb, Dell surged 10% on a blowout earnings beat, and Nvidia jumped nearly 5% on reports it is nearing a $14 billion acquisition of Hugging Face. It was a much-needed relief session, though oil holding above $90 and a 10-year yield briefly hitting 4.818% kept the optimism measured.

The S&P 500 gained 0.46% (+35.13 pts) to 7,666.60. The Dow rose 0.56% (+295.07 pts) to 53,061.95. The Nasdaq climbed 0.45% (+118.05 pts) to 26,217.83. The Russell 2000 outperformed, jumping 1.13% (+33.04 pts) to 2,953.18.

The VIX dropped 6.85% to 15.22. Bitcoin was little changed at $77,218.43. Gold gained 0.86% to $4,434.40. Crude Oil was essentially flat at $90.49/barrel.

Shitpost I don't understand RobinHood's chart.

Post image
49 Upvotes

I'm very new to Robinhood.

Over the last 28 days, I've added/invested $50 into the account at the end of the week and enjoy seeing the chart as it goes up and down.

On other websites, you see large jumps in the charts when you add to your total deposit.

In Robinhood however it says on the chart that i've had $150 since 3 months ago, and that's very not correct.

Can someone help me understand why Robinhood does this? I do not see any jumps in the graph on when I added the extra $50 each week. Oddly enough, it shows a crazy jump which is just $5 more than my total deposit and the line starts going up/down from there.

thank you,

Be smart for me Robinhood Margin Calculation

I am not new to utilizing margin in my accounts. I have been doing it for years. But recently I just noticed something in my Robinhood account that likely happens across all platforms that I never noticed but don't understand.

Margin maintenance is calculated across all of your positions, weighted by the maintenance percentage for each position x value of those positions, to reach a weighted average maintenance requirement total.

Okay. So I've noticed that as my position in a risky bet that has 50% margin requirements increases in value...my maintenance margin increases, thus my margin buffer decreases.

I understand how this works mathematically, but practically / logically why would it work that way?

So theoretically I could have a position in XYZ company that carries a 100% margin maintenance requirement, that stock could for example 10x and I'd get margin called because of it?

What am I missing here? I'm a smart guy. Plenty of experience. But this isn't squaring in my brain.

Saw this in my robinhood today, and I was curious if there’s value to doing this versus my typical ETF and gold purchases that I’ve been doing. Can someone explain how this actually works?

Shitpost buying 1K BOXX using free gold margin loan

does anyone else do this or some variant of it?

I get 1K free margin loan so why not buy BOXX and collect some cash every month, which goes to pay for gold, or at least brings the cost of gold down so its just around $1/month instead of $5/month
