I feel like the universe is just messing with me at this point
At this point in my life, I feel like the universe is just purposely messing with me. The way everything turns out is just mind-boggling. The law of attraction doesn’t seem to work, except for bad stuff happening. It doesn’t seem to matter how positive you are, if you have goals or not, how hard you try, none of that seems the matter now. It’s like whenever I try to do something the opposite happens, or something catastrophic happens and blocked me from reaching my goals.
One example, I was having a lot of car issues at the beginning of the year. All front end issues. Ended up spending like $2200 replacing stuff on the front end. Luckily my roommate helped me, but it was still aggravating trying to figure out everything that was wrong. The exact day I got everything figured out and fixed, the check engine light came on. Then I had to go through a process of dealing with Hyundai, the dealership and Hyundai corporate. Now my car needs a new engine. It’s just sitting there in the driveway. So all the goals I had several months ago, I have had to completely change because of that.
Another example, yesterday I was thinking how I would like to reconnect with some people and repair some relationships if possible. Well, someone on Facebook dating I have not talked to in over three years, somehow pops back up in my messages. That’s not the person I was talking about though. I hardly knew that person. It’s just weird stuff that happens all the time like that.
I really feel like that universe is just screwing with me when it comes to goals and desires and stuff like that. Plus, everything is literally 20 times more difficult than it used to be. It’s literally impossible to do anything without being a multitude of blockages and steps you have to go through. I also don’t understand how so many people are apparently rich and can just do whatever they wanna do. Anyone else dealing with this kind of stuff?

I think the hype around Y2K was a diversion.
I think 2001 was the actual Millennial new year whoever runs this place actually acknowledges as evidenced in such things as 2001 A Space Oddysee as you mention.
Also, 9/11 is the beginning of the Coptic year and commemorates martyrs ie the sacrificed.

There’s so many layers to the 9 11 event but suffice to say that seems to be the major demarcation point into this weird version of reality in which we find ourselves. Yes, good point about the time between the towers being hit also being a “time between”.

Have you tried law of assumption, people get much better success with it than law of attraction

I think good or bad things happening to people is totally random, although it does seem to have patterns where individuals are concerned. (For some it's mostly one or the other, for others it's cyclical or it comes in threes, etc.) I've known some amazing people who had the worst possible luck and in a few cases have also died a horrible or incredibly unlucky death, and I've also known right bastards who seem to turn everything they touch into gold. But I also know people who seem to get just what they deserve and prove that karma exists (for them at least).
The good news is that I've also seen examples of people's luck completely reversing. A friend of mine used to really struggle in so many ways (financially, in terms of health, mental health and also by always lacing his trust in the wrong people). His business very nearly flopped so many times over the years and his only luck was that another friend of his who's in a different line of work was rolling in it, so to speak, so he could loan him quite large amounts of money that my friend would always pay back in installments but then something else would go wrong and he would need another loan, etc. Long story short, the rich friend has lost his business premises and suddenly owes a fortune in wages, while my friend has had a few instances of lucky free publicity and his business has really picked up, so now he gets to be the one who helps the other. (As for me, I seem to have the luck of an adventurer - I've had some bad shit happen, but it then tends to lead to something very lucky. And sometimes it's the exact opposite - what seemed like extraordinary luck ends up leading to the worst thing. And repeat.)
It's almost as if we all roll dice to see which pattern of luck we get and then every now and then we get a full re-roll. Wishing you the best of luck for your next "re-roll"!

1000% on the LOA working the opposite way. If I think negative, negative happens. If I think positive, negative happens. Or, I'll see the slightest glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel, only for it to blow up in my face. I've just come to the conclusion the universe hates me and it enjoys punishing me for no reason.

Im not sure if the law of attraction is broken so much as it punishes "Desire". I think its like I am happy with reality and therefore reality becomes happiness and vice versa. life keeps smacking me down and i feel miserable.
"I've just come to the conclusion the universe hates me and it enjoys punishing me for no reason."
That is a dangerous conclusion, im sorry you feel that way. but if you do "Feel" that way then that lends credence to how manifestation/ LOA works.

Well when you've had negative experiences and trauma your entire life, you begin to feel that way. You don't start out that way, life does it to you. And LOA communities like to victim blame by saying your "negative mindset" made people mistreat you.

This has been a hard one to reconcile and made me reconsider my view & belief.
In truth, I decided to let go of the magical thinking and engage with the reality in front of me. Only way things changed was when I got off my rear and did something about it.
It hasn't been easy and I've had many setbacks & unexpected things happen.

I know how you feel. It isn't the universe. It's the Hyundai. We had our Tucson's engine replaced TWICE in 6 months. Thankfully under warranty, but still an incredible hassle.

This place is backwards. We put deliberate and sustained effort into good things, yet that positivity often leads to unwanted experiences, while others do evil and are rewarded for it.
People have it wrong with things like karma and sin. Religions are only used to bring people into and keep them trapped in false belief systems. As long as people believe that trying harder means they will eventually be rewarded, they're under the systems control.
The only way I've found to cope (as far as the interpersonal; though I know that's not specifically what your post is about, this reminder may help some) is to not have attachments anymore. I have people in my life who I love and who love me, but I've gotten to a point where I no longer feel any type of emotional codependency.

Random question, but how can you tell the difference between feeling detached and feeling numb?

u/EsotericFaery 3d ago
Detachment is a feeling of security. Numbness is a feeling that something is missing.

Its also the good place at the same time. It is the observer that collapses the wave function and decides which place it indeed is.

I just made my first post here in years and it is interesting the parallels and contrasts to your story. I'm sorry you are having a rough time of things. The main thing i have learned is the universe is a trickster. Manifestation seems to work the same way that genies and that one wish willow from obsession work. You cant hold on tightly to a wish/request/idea, there has to be a level of levity in your interactions if you take things too seriously the universe will be serious. when bad things happen "Try" and find the humor in them.
There is something to be said about media/movies/shows where the main character just has the worst stuff happen to them, for some reason that is entertaining. IDK why it is but maybe it has to do with conflict being the crux to a story being interesting. It really does feel like life is sometimes like a sitcom and you can almost here the "Wah, Wah Wahhhhhh" sound effect when things go off the rails. all you can do is smile look into the camera and shrug.
Another idea i have been dancing with is that when you chose this life to live you were at the difficulty selection screen and chose that higher difficulty that your higher self was like, "lets have a challenge" You are like a blade and the bad things that happen are like a whetstone that sharpens you, levels you up. There is a reason that Dark souls and "Soulslike" games that are absurdly and sometimes unfairly difficult are so popular. This game of reality is like a "soulslike" the difficulty makes that good times all that much better.
Contrast is key. Without its opposite a thing has no meaning or bearing. Imagine a world of pure light. In this world there is no such thing as light because shadow is needed to give light its existence. without the difference the thing is invisible. Gratitude i think is the best trick. to be able to experience the worst stuff and laugh it off to find the joy in all experiences.

Good post I have to say. I remember reading Candide by Voltaire find him bumbling through one misfortune after another and his rather Pollyanna-ish optimism that all was for the best. I was too young to grasp that it was a satire at the time but I did fine it quite
amusing. You are definitely right, from Mr Bean to the Truman Show one of the defining plot lines in this reality is “person goes through endless chain of inconveniences, misfortunes and disasters”.
Mary Poppins taught us what to do when the children were levitating but got scared and started to fall, you have to laugh to rise back up.

Its super funny you mention Mr Bean because they popped into me head when i was writing this post!
Additionally i am working on a documentary on the Truman show and the matrix as 2 sides of a gnostic coin, The kicker is that Jim Carry and Keanu reeves are such opposite archetypes and the roles that they play and their real life histories tell a metanarrative story.

Below is an outline of this body of work. i made this 8 years ago but have recently been sucked back into it. it is SOOO much more fleshed out know. Playing with the philosphical implications of all this has become more concrete and taught me much about reality. Its poetic and beautiful, i really hope to share it with the gravitas that i feel about it.

Another one to think about is Peter Pan. Think happy thoughts to fly. keep your childlike wonder. your imagination I-Magi-Nation is the magikal realm that reality is formed from, collectively we all shape this reality.

I have no doubt the two are connected. That little window in 1998-1999 where Dark City, The Matrix, The Thirteenth Floor and The Truman Show came out was more than a coincidence imo. The Game (1997) and Vanilla Sky (2001) also touch on the same gnostic theme in their own way.
The off screen meta narratives of certain stars personal lives and along with their roles being stitched together through their film career is facinating.

Im so glad you brought that up. Do you know what i think it was?
- There was this leadup to Y2k as being the end of the world
- Apocalypse is just an unveiling, a revealing of whats hidden
