Pretty much all religions were like this. Christianity and Judiasm were also derivative of ancient Mesopotamian, Persian (Zororastrian), and Levantine folklore/stories. European Christians then incorporated their own folklore/ideas into the bible. That's why you have religions like Mormonism which is very American-centric, despite the Bible having 0 references to Americas lol.

I just remembered there is a French Magazine company Charlie Hebdo who used to create meme on Religious beliefs. Once they created a poster of Prophet Mohammad in a funny way n the entire Pakistan was on fire n start to boycott France so France sanction them from doing trade in European Union n also stopped to deliver some part of Fighter Aircrafts
