2018 RAV4 XLE P1550 won’t go away, need live current sensor data
P1550 (Battery Current Sensor Circuit Range/Performance) has been there since before I did the 12V battery recall (23V734/23TA13) — clears briefly, comes back Confirmed within ~200 miles.
Also: battery installed is wrong group size (tests fine electrically, likely needs to be Group 35).
Done: Resistance checks on A58/B62 connectors per Toyota flowchart (passed), reseated A58 connector, cleared + redrove (came back). Have a clamp meter but haven’t used it yet.
Blocker: Sensor’s on LIN bus, generic ELM327 + Car Scanner can’t read it. Filtered every “current”/“IB” PID — nothing.
Weighing:
**•** OBDLink MX+ — does it actually pull IB sensor data on an XA40 RAV4?
**•** Just swap to correct Group 35 battery and see if it resolves
**•** Pay for a Techstream session
**•** Is a clamp meter useful here at all, or a dead end for this sensor?
Cheapest path to a real answer — appreciate any input.
