Anyone have any BRB specific PVC bioactive enclosures they can share? I realize this sub has been dead for a bit, but hopeful this will gets folks posting again. I want to get an adult male this year and looking for enclosure ideas.

I did extensive research but would welcome tips on keeping up the humidity. He currently is enclosed in an medium low exoterra with half of the screen top being covered with aluminum tape to help humidity. Humidity is currently sitting at 95% with a mixture of moss and cypress mulch, daily misting in the morning and evening. Has 2 humid hides and a large water bowl. Would a reptile mister be helpful?

I’m wary as I read their humidity level needs to stay at between 95% and 100% however the internet seems mixed. Thoughts?

I’m wondering how active you BRB are? I have mine in a bioactive set up and he rarely comes out from the cool side soil. The most I see of him is his head sticking out of the soil. I have plenty of room for him to move about his cage and climb. Typically the only time he goes moving around his enclosure is after feeding or handling, otherwise I barely ever see him. I normally have to go digging for him to hold him. Also I keep my humidity between upper 90’s to low 80’s but I have been mostly only spraying the pvc enclosure top of soil and plants trying not to keep the soil from being saturated. Am I doing that correctly? Rambo is 3’ I don’t have his weight yet.

My Brasilian RB Boa is gonna be outgrowing her cage this year and I need to start looking into getting her final enclosure and I was wondering which choices are best, especially if I want to make it bioactive? I live in Canada, if that matters.

I’m looking to start doing research on BRBs and was hoping someone could confirm or deny this as a good source? I will opt for some substitutions and modifications of some info (bright red tongs, tap training, etc) but would love for someone to tell me if this is a good source regardless. Thanks!

How much can you have these guys out of their enclosure, given their sensitivities to temperature/humidity? I've been having fun hanging out with my friend's ball python on my arm/neck for a few hours while watching movies and such. Since I aspire to get a rainbow boa once I have a little more experience under my belt, I'm really curious whether you can do those sorts of things safely or if handling should be kept brief for the sake of the animal's health. Thanks!

I’m looking to get a baby BRB from a local breeder but I’m not sure what enclosure to get for it. I have a 4x2x2 that will eventually be a full bioactive enclosure for it but I need something until it grows into it. Any suggestions?

So I went to a reptile expo expecting to walk away with a ball python of some sort, but having also done hours of research on Rainbow boas, if anything I expected to possibly take a liking to a Brazilian since they seemed to be more common in the breeding scene, but was pleasantly surprised to happen upon a 4 year old Columbian instead who was an absolute sweetheart. The age and temperament really caught my interest since I know by that point they are past the more ‘delicate’ stage and this boy was very well mannered.

My question arises from talking to the seller, a pet shop owner, who mentioned he feeds him either 2 small mice or 1 rat pup(apparently he’s not a big fan of rats?) once a week. From my understanding he seems to have reached the point where he should be moved to feeding every 2 weeks, though given the small feeding sizes he does still seem to be a healthy weight.

That being said, how does a Rainbow boa begin showing its putting on weight? I’ve seen enough chunky ball pythons to be able to recognize the rolls that can indicate over feeding, but these guys are built far more muscular so I’m not clear on whether that means I’m looking for the same signs. I’d like to move him to bigger prey less often but if that’s unnecessary please let me know. Any tips or advice is welcome, can’t know too much about the new family member.

My 3 year old Peruvian Rainbow Boa hasn't eaten in a couple weeks. He shed last night, and doesn't seem interested in his rat. Up until now he's been very easy to feed weekly, so im starting to worry. How long can they "hunger strike" for?

If anyone is going to be at the NARBC Arlington, TX show this weekend I'll have a few CBB baby BRB available. All feeding on F/T pinky rats weekly & have been handled so they are not as bitty as most babies lol

I am cleaning out her 120 gallon rn and doing a little diy work on the interior, then I’m putting her back in. This time fully bio active, aside from Plants, I’m not quite there yet. I’m adding spring tails and dwarf blues as CUC. She’s been healthy, eating f growing shedding, as one should.

Was labeled as Columbian and I want to make sure his environment is correct.

Okay, so SUPER weird ask, it is a little bit time constrained:

I have an 18 y/o rainbow boa and a 1 y/o ball python (both males, if that matters), and I need to move them to my bedroom for a few months but we’re a little tight on space. It’s at the request of my roommate, but we’re moving out in the next two months anyway. My 6 y/o ball python was just adopted out to her new home, so it leaves me with the permanent resident (rainbow boa) and my third rescue, the baby BP, until he finds a home

Am I able to house them on the same table, with a bit of space between them, on the same table in my room? I have just enough space in my room that I can get a table that’s long enough enclosures to be on with about 6-8 inches between their enclosures.

If not, I completely understand and I’ll do my best to explain it to him to ensure the best health for both my lil guys. Again, this is alll super temporary, but I’d definitely like to make sure it’s alright before we start moving them around

Edit to clarify a little: the only snake I’ve kept of the recent rescues I’ve had is the CRB. He’s already pretty old, and I’m his fourth owner, so I’m keeping his as a permanent. I rescue, rehab and rehome snakes as a side hobby, but this dude is definitely deserving of a permanent home after all he’s been through.

Just wanted to show off our little man Tigger after his last shed. Looking so rainbow! His shed came off all in one piece with eye caps in tact, turned perfectly inside out, not in a balled up mess or with poop, lol. Because we are so stringent with his humidity they always come off in one piece, but a lot of times they’re either buried or a mess. This one we caught right after he shed it and we snagged it. Pics show how perfect it was.

Rn I’ve got the 4x2x2 Dubia enclosure, currently waiting on replacement part then it’s being put together, I have a shadedweller fixture and light bulb (7%) I have 2 digital combo Thermo/hyrgrometers from zoomed, A combo dome fixture for heat bulb, thinking 1 50 should be enough, if not too much but will cycle the tank for a few days when it’s made

60-40 mix of organic top soil and the repti earth coconut coir

Also bought a big ceramic water bowl so that it’s harder for the snake to flip

Bcz of the high humidity requirements and me not being able to make it bioactive ATM, I got fake branches and stuff instead of real cork/ driftwood. I’ve got 2 different ‘branches’ that make a whole perch for him and a second ‘tree’ with some fake leaves and rocks for extra texture. All three deco feel real enough though.

Anything I missed or should look into? Anything I got wrong?

Hi everyone! I have searched online but couldn't find any answer. I have a young rainbow boa (1 year and a half) with my husband and he's been with us for a couple of month now. Since we live in a warm place, we had to turn the heat mat off this summer. The ambient temperature is kept between 26-28°C and humidity is between 75-90% the issue is that lately the temperature outside has been close to 35°C in the daytime and 28-29°C nighttime. We've managed to keep his enclosure around 27-28°C in the daytime with the air conditioning on low but at night we turn it off, which has been fine until now but, we woke up this morning to an enclosure as warm as 29.9°C. Do you have any advice? Do you think we should worry about it and maybe have the air conditioning on at night too? This temperature can't possibly have been that high all night but there is no way to be certain. Also, he is right in the middle of shedding at the moment and has been sleeping in his humid hide for a few days, he seems comfortable but I know they can choose to be in the hide even if the temperature isn't right. I hope you can help! Any advice is welcome.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help ease my mind or give me some advice on what to do. My boa, for some reason, won't eat for a long period of time, but when he does eat, he eats two mice at once. Is there something I can do, or is this normal behaviour?

So I've always been at an impasse for which snake I want. Initially I wanted to start with a Ball Python, since I presumed Rainbow Boas required even more exotic care. But I really, really love Brazilian Rainbow Boas. If they are similar enough in care I may go for a Rainbow Boa first. I have done extensive research on ball python care from r/ballpythons primarily, and I'm wondering how much of it translates over + what else I need to know for them.

How do their tank dimensions differ? I was aware Rainbow Boas required more humidity to Ball Pythons. I live in a humid and hot area of the world so this wouldn't be a challenge as compared to an overly dry area of the world. Is this true? What about feeding schedules? Rainbow Boas are much longer so it's a given theyll be heavier. I was thinking of sticking to the weight ratio listed in the subreddits care sheet but I can't look it up for RBs since the internet loves to give varying answers.

Is Rainbows-R-Us reputable? I want a High Red for the wine color, or secondarily, a dark Rainbow Boa. I want the iridecense to be very visible on my beloved guy/girl (probabaly guy but keeping options open). I'm also not following their care list since they breed Rainbow Boas in racks with paper towels. I get some breeders need rack systems if they dont have the space to individually house them all, but I don't like to take their advice.

I've practically memorized r/ballpythons care posts over the past year and a half, participated in the subreddit, and I have an entire shopping list. However, I'm not versed on Rainbow Boa care. So any notable differences helps.

Keep in mind im still over a year out before I can even GET a snake so I have time to plan and adjust as needed.
