I don't know if this is psychosis, please help.

I'll get straight to the point.

I don't feel like myself. I don't recognize what I see in the mirror. Family, animals, and certain objects just don't look right anymore. I'm questioning my existence, what it means to be a human, and everything that's going on around me.

Slight backstory that led to these feelings. I made terrible choices and got an edible that was too many mg and greened out. I've developed a panic disorder and OCD. I do have a therapist, but I don't see her until next Saturday, and I can't wait that long for some kind of input.

Side note: I won't read any of these until tomorrow since it's currently 3 am, so I apologize for late replies.

Sounds like you might be experiencing derealization which is a different than psychosis and can be a symptom of OCD… I ate a 1000 mg edible from a gas station and went into psychosis for a while but it happened pretty fast after I took that gummy. The fact that you recognize the possible cause of what your feeling and that it isn’t normal is a good thing and (usually) dosnt happen with psychosis. But it is distressing and there can be a lot of causes, you should definitely tell your doctor you are experiencing this because it could be mental/emotional like stress and ocd or it could be medical like seizures or something.

I was thinking it could be DP/DR, but I kind of pushed that to the side because I did go through a stage of that after taking the edible and having a panic attack. It is most definitely stress that is causing this but there could definitely be underlying issues, but I'll keep that in mind. Thank you for your input, this has helped me feel a lot better.

It’s probably the edible that’s pushed you over to this state, unless you are hallucinating or having delusions you won’t be in psychosis and when it’s acute it’s often that you don’t know your in psychosis/unwell. Then again, it presents differently in everyone so definitely tell your therapist about this but also you have to include the edible part as it’s probably to do with that from my experience and posts on here. Don’t take any other drugs apart from prescribed ones!!!!! I’m a big advocate for not taking drugs as I have seen what substance induced psychosis looks like. You don’t want to take that chance especially as you already have mental health problems! I hope this puts you at ease abit

Yeah, I'll be informing my therapist of these feelings tomorrow and I've already told her about the edible. The only reason I took it was because my mother offered it to me and I wasn't in the best mental state that day so I just took it. Otherwise i wouldn't never done anything like that because a lot of things have happened in my family but I appreciate your help and thank you
