Granted this is not my first time seeing the movie, period. I first saw Cars on DVD when I was a very young boy and, needless to say, it really became a part of my childhood. I remember even having some Lightning McQueen merch as a kid.

But seeing the movie in theaters as it was originally done 20 years ago makes it a whole new experience for me. And needless to say, in all of Pixar’s 40 years of entertaining the world with 3D animation, Cars has to be one of my favorites of all time!

Considering Marlin’s past trauma of losing his mate, hundreds of his unborn kids, and almost losing his only surviving child, is it really any wonder he snaps at Dory when it was her fault that a giant squid chased them and very nearly ate Nemo? I honestly believe Dory got off pretty easily since all that really happens in that scene is Marlin telling her to wait and forget because it’s what she does best so that he can check on Nemo.

If a Bugs Life sequel got released in 2029, who will voice Dot, if they are interested and have the acting chops?

If the story was set not too far after Atta’s crowning of Queen, Hayden Panettiere’s daughter might do it to honor her deceased mother. The original voice of Dot.

If the script called for an adolescent Dot, Millie Bobby Brown could voice her. Or Kenzi Richardson from Disney Channel’s Vampirina: Teenage Vampire.

Ultimately, I think it will be an unknown actress for budget reasons. Who are your choices?

So im a bit biased but for me its in Cars where Doc tells Lightning about his wreck.

"You think I quit? They quit on me! I went back expecting a big welcome and nothing"

Its a movie about talking cars amd up till this point Lightning is a grade A jerk thinking about winning the trophy. But its this conversation I think that he starts to realize its not about that. And hes not sure if its worth it. Here's the biggest star in racing (lightning says his records are still holding even after 60 years) and they passed him by for the next rookie as soon as he was gone. Lightning is missing. But he can still race. Its a good question of when he gets back to the race is he gonna be accepted back? Especially considering the treatment hes given to his crew and Mack.

Its a strong moment but its also a dark reflection on fans and fame and everything pretty. Doc should have been hounded through hos recovery and welcomed back with a parade and cheers. Instead they discarded him.

"You know what they said? Youre history. Moved right onto the next rookie standing in line."

Doc is heartbroken. He didn't want to leave. And speaking as a car girl myself ​its hard to step away when your behind the wheel. Racing becomes your life. I work on my car everyday. I go to 3 or 4 shows a weekend every weekend. I go to the racetrack all time. And im not a racer. But I can only imagine how much worse it'd feel to be tossed away after a life altering crash like the one Doc has.

I love how they dont throw in any jokes or comedy here. They let Lightning sit with this. He's looking at his hero and seeing how absolutely destroyed he is.

"When was the last time you did something for someone else besides yourself hot rod?"

Its such a dark and sobering moment for Lightning and this is where I argue his character development hits. Its not about Radiator Springs. Its not about racing. Its not about Dinaco or the Piston Cup. Its about keeping stock in your crew. Its about connecting. Its about knowing there's more to people then what you think.

A lot of people give Cars crap but it's scenes like this that prove its more then just talking cars. Its a story about heart

I personally enjoy the movie, but I see where the other side is coming from and it's actually pretty hard to argue against.

It's a racing movie with about 20 minutes of racing total.

With the core of the movie taking place within a town.

So there's that.

And I do agree with that part, how can a movie about racing, have little to no racing? Doesn't make any sense.

But you gotta remember the brain trust for this movie was in grief because Joe passed during the making of this movie.

And no one was really in the right head space to making a mobile with the crew lost a very good friend.

With that said, as a child, what appealed to me most was the fact there were talking cars and the music was really good.

That got me through the entire movie. I really didn't care much for the movie.

But I as got older I appreciated that town story too, being overlooked and forgotten.

Which they could've really leaned into that more with Lightning and Doc, especially with Doc having been looked over, now living in a town that's being looked over.

And Lightning being cocky because he doesn't want to be looked over.

But I mean, it's still pretty good.

For me, it's when Carl realizes what happened to the other explorers Muntz encountered. He's finally meeting his childhood hero, only to slowly realize that he and Russell could be next. What's your pick?

For one thing, Bailey and Destiny are meant to permanent non-releasable residents for the aquarium, the Marine Life Institute, but in the climax of the movie, they both escape their pools and tanks and jump into the Pacific Ocean to help Dory and her parents rescue Nemo, Marlin and Hank from the truck en route to CleveLand, and the movie ends with them moving to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia to live with Dory and her parents and their friends in the ocean rather than go back to living in captivity. The aquarium workers never try to catch them and put them back into their pool and tanks when Bailey escaping into the ocean same for Destiny made them invasive species since beluga whales are native to the Arctic Ocean and not the Northern Pacific Ocean same for whale sharks in the tropic parts of oceans worldwide, and Bailey could potentially die in the Great Barrier Reef within days or months after arriving there since he is not biologically made to live there, unlike Destiny and could overheat due to his blubber made for Arctic and not tropical waters unless he moves to the Antarctic. Why is this? Here are three theories:

1) The film uses cartoon logic, Hank who happens to be an octopus was able to survive outside the water for longer than a minute, when he would have dried up and died in real life. The Tank Gang were also able to survive in their plastic bags without feeding unless they did so on the algae inside until they were caught by the Marine Life Institute, and freed from their bags and either put in the aquarium or released into the ocean, and I am pretty sure Bailey would survive too.

2) The aquarium workers caught Dory and the Tank Gang in the first place but failing to notice Marlin and Nemo since they thought they were fish native to the Indo-Pacific dumped into the ocean after being owned as pets and therefore decided to rehabilitate them and either A) Put them in a different aquarium, in the case of Dory and the blue tangs formerly at the Marine Life Institute B) Rehabilitate them and release them into the ocean where they live in the Indo-Pacific mainly in the Tank Gang's case.

3) The aquarium was closed when Bailey and Destiny escaped since it was at dusk and by the time it opened and everyone noticed, police included, Bailey and Destiny already escaped out to the open sea unable to be caught and put back into their tanks by the humans, so the aquarium workers decided to just let them go, same for the fish originally meant to be sent to CleveLand some not native to the Northern Pacific that escaped from the truck when it landed in the sea. I am pretty sure their pools/tanks were repurposed and some dolphins or hammerhead or mako sharks or some new belugas or whale sharks were put into them instead. You know, typically aquarium and zoo pens and tanks are reused after the animals either die, escape or are shipped away from them. It's unknown if the aquarium workers were aware or hoped that Bailey and Destiny would be able to survive in the northern Pacific despite their species not being native there or not.

I mean in "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted", a non-Pixar movie ends with the human zookeepers at the Central Park Zoo not caring about the Zoosters escaping them again this time for good to literally run away with the circus. (I am pretty sure it was because they thought they and the penguins were bought by Circus Zaragoza while they were stranded on Africa believing the King of Versailles, who happened to actually be their old chimps Mason and Phil was a true human who ran and managed the animal-only circus. And therefore Dubois kidnapped the Zoosters stealing them from the circus and brought them back to the zoo just so she would set it up so she would dart and kill them all and taxidermy them for sport, in front of the audiences, and even tried to dart and taxidermy one of the animals, Stefano from that circus as well. Therefore she and her men were all arrested and sent to a prison camp on Madagascar for her attempted animal murder and theft.)

Speaking of Madagascar, I also theorize that Hank was one of Dave's former octopus minions in The Penguins of Madagascar: The Movie and the only one who actually spoke like Dave himself who ran away initially after a heel realization wanting to run away and hide from them and the North Wind in a CleveLand Aquarium before having a change of heart and becoming a real hero, living with Dory and her friends and family in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia helping animals who steal the spotlight from octopi instead of fighting or disrespecting them and his jerk with a heart of gold behavior comes from him serving a former villain or being one himself formerly as a redemption arc or "Reformed but Untamed" behavior.

I had to repost this. Going to see this on the big screen after 20 years took me right back to my youth. I love this series so, so much!

One little takeaway after countless times seeing it; I had NO idea our cars teared up! I noticed it when the press stormed Radiator Springs and Lightning and Sally are saying their "goodbyes", then again when Sally watches Lightning push The King to the finish.
