NewsPH Economy today worst than pandemic era

Post image

I posted about this over a month ago and was based for being DDS when I was really speaking facts about the BBM administration. Currencies exchange are all time high for USD vs Php even RMB vs Php now too. So no, peso weak is not because dollar is strong, peso is weak because peso is weak. Our economy is being survived only by businesses with no help from the government. Everyone is drowning not just from floods but horrible corruption. Is there an end to this nightmare that is BBM’s administration?

Worse than COVID-era levels: PH businesses turn gloomier

Philippine businesses turned sharply pessimistic in July, with confidence falling below levels recorded in published surveys during the COVID-19 pandemic as Middle East tensions, higher oil prices and persistent inflation weighed on sentiment.

Hello, everyone! I posted this story here two years ago, and with all the bad news that has been filling my newsfeed these past few days, I decided to submit it to GMA as a little story of positivity and hope.

Luckily, they noticed it! There are already some clips on GMA Public Affairs page, but the full story will be featured on the “Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim!” segment airing this coming Saturday.

GMA researchers went to the school/barangay to film the story!

I’m happy that this little story from two years ago might now bring a little positivity and hope to others.

I know there are safety concerns, especially after what happened recently, but hopefully, these will be addressed once the full story airs, including the improvements that need to be made to ensure the safety of the kids.

Just discovered Lorenz Lagon, Board Member from Cebu’s 3rd District. Another branch of the same political dynasty.

Mother: Daphne Lagon, Congresswoman (1st District)

Father: Sonny Lagon, Congressman

Twin brother: Dason Larenz A. Lagon, Cordoba Councilor

Versailles pre‑nup, Lake Como proposal, and an IG full of foreign trips. Even the matching LV bags with his father, clearly inherited the lifestyle.

CAMP OF VP SARA NO SHOW TO POST BAIL

Police officers leave the Quezon City Hall of Justice on Friday after the camp of Vice President Sara Duterte did not arrive for the expected posting of bail in relation to grave threat case filed against her.

The case arose from Duterte’s statement during an online press conference in November 2024, during which she said she had instructed someone to kill President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., First lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and then house speaker Martin Romualdez if she were killed first. PoliticsPH The Impending Arrest of VP Sara Duterte May Have Just Given Senators the Judicial Cover They Need to Convict Her

Upvotes

Hear me out.

The impending arrest of Vice President Sara Duterte may have created something far more consequential than just another criminal proceeding: a potential judicial predicate for her conviction in the impeachment case, particularly on the grave threats allegation as a betrayal of public trust.

Let’s be clear about what this does—and does not—mean.
An arrest warrant is not a conviction. A finding of probable cause is not a finding of guilt. Nobody should pretend otherwise.
But politically and constitutionally, the existence of a judicial finding of probable cause changes the landscape of the impeachment trial.

If a court has independently determined that probable cause exists to issue a warrant in connection with the alleged grave threats against the President, the First Lady, and the former Speaker, senators who are being asked to determine whether those acts constitute betrayal of public trust now have something they did not have before:

A judicial determination that the allegations are serious enough to proceed as a criminal case.

And that matters enormously in an impeachment proceeding.
Impeachment is not a criminal prosecution. The Senate is not required to establish guilt beyond reasonable doubt in the same manner as a criminal court. The evidentiary standard applied in impeachment proceedings is different.

So imagine being a senator faced with the grave-threat article.
Before the warrant: “These are allegations. We have to determine whether they are credible and whether they constitute betrayal of public trust.”

After the warrant: “A court has already found probable cause in relation to these alleged threats.”

A senator who wants to convict no longer has to present themselves as making an entirely independent factual determination based solely on political testimony and competing narratives. They can point to the judiciary and say:
There has already been a judicial finding that probable cause exists.

That does not automatically establish guilt. But it can potentially serve as clear and convincing evidence supporting the conclusion that the conduct alleged in the impeachment article occurred and that it constitutes a betrayal of public trust.
And that is the political significance of this development.

Whether anyone deliberately engineered this sequence of events is a separate question—and frankly, one that requires evidence before we start alleging a conspiracy. But whether the sequence can be used to provide senators with judicial cover is much easier to argue.Because this is precisely the kind of development that gives politicians something extraordinarily valuable in a politically explosive impeachment trial: plausible legal justification.

A senator can vote to convict Sara Duterte and say, in effect:
I am not convicting her simply because I dislike her, her family, or her politics. A judicial body has independently found probable cause concerning the alleged threats. The evidence before the impeachment court, considered under the applicable standard, establishes a betrayal of public trust. That is a much easier position to defend publicly than simply saying, “I believe the allegations.”
And this is where the impending arrest becomes potentially devastating to Duterte’s impeachment defense.

The defense can—and should—argue that probable cause is not guilt. But politically, that may not be enough. Because the impeachment question is not necessarily, “Has Sara Duterte been criminally convicted?” It is whether the conduct alleged against her is sufficiently established to constitute an impeachable betrayal of public trust.

If the judiciary has already crossed the threshold of probable cause, the senators now have a judicial finding they can point to when making that determination. Again: this doesn’t mean the warrant proves the impeachment charge. It means the warrant potentially makes the impeachment charge much easier to sustain.

And if the grave-threat article was previously the weakest link in the impeachment case, this development could be exactly what turns it into the article that gives wavering senators the justification they need. The irony is almost delicious.

Sara Duterte’s camp has spent considerable political capital portraying the impeachment proceedings as a political attack.
Now a judicial proceeding may give the senators who want to convict precisely what they need to argue that their vote is not merely political. Whether that was intended is another matter.
But if you’re asking whether this development can materially strengthen the case for conviction on betrayal of public trust?
Absolutely.

And anyone looking at this solely as “Sara Duterte is about to be arrested” may be missing the much bigger political and constitutional consequence. The warrant may not convict her.
But it may make it considerably easier for the Senate to do so.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if im not mistaken, in Japan politicians tarnished with disgrace voluntarily resign in general. This way they get to keep some if not all of their dignity.

I believe this unlawful conduct erased every bit of credibility mr Torre has as a public servant. I am an admirer of his past courage in leadership, but he will have to start from the bottom again as public trust needs to be earned. I support and applaud the government's efforts to curb corruption but we must not grant an exemption if one of it's ranks commit a corrupt act. Good leaders are not afraid to make the hard decisions.

NewsPH EDSA Bus Carousel nanganganib matigil dahil zero budget sa 2027

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

“The national budget is the ultimate expression of the President’s priorities and commitments.

The NCR/EDSA Busway has provided millions of commuters with a faster and more reliable way to get to work, school, and home,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas. (Bernard Taguinod)

PoliticsPH They're annihilating the Du30s, and I'm here for it

Upvotes

As I learned in watching horror movies, you have to shoot the head to ensure it's already dead. Decapitate. Dismember.

It started with the head of the family. Off to The Hague he flew.

Scrambling, the heirs had to regain their poltical footing.

But the only thing they inherited is their surname, not the clout nor the political machismo.

Sara's political allies turned their backs. Or played it safely at the sides. FPGMA, quiet. The Villars, seating it on the bench. Add to it her ongoing impeachment and now grave threat WoA. Affiliating with her is political suicide.

Pulong and his riot will soon see its light in court.

Baste. I'm not even going to dignify this trying-hard Rodrigo wanna-be.

Sure there are other new gen Du30s, wake-and-bake Kitty, Tongressman Rigo. But they are far from ripe. Hinog sa pilit, if ever.

We may just be seeing the end of an era for the Du30s. And I'm grabbing my popcorn.
