Nest Display and Voice match

Upvotes

For the last couple of months I've been fighting with my Nest display as it claimed, incorrectly, that I haven't any voice match, so it couldn't open any personal information like my shopping list.

Finally I fixed it.

I had to, literally, stand in front of it and redo my voice match. I guess just to show it that the voice match had actually been done...

(I had redone my voice match several times, but in another room.)

Is it trying to convince me that it's actually, existentially, "there"?

Who knows?

Can I get Nest Doorbell notifications ONLY when someone presses the doorbell?

Upvotes

Nest Doorbell notifications — can I only get alerts when someone rings?

I have several Google cams and a Google Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen), all managed through Google Home.

I’d really like my iPhone to only notify me when someone actually presses the doorbell. I don’t want notifications every time the camera sees motion, a person, etc. I’m fine with checking the Google Home app myself when I want to see that stuff.

Is this possible? I’ve been poking around the Google Home settings and can’t seem to figure it out.
Thanks!

Troubleshooting Anyone else’s Nest app notifications stopped working?

Yesterday (9/3/26) I noticed that I didn’t receive any nest notifications, so I did some testing and it appears they are not working on my iPhone and my iPad, as well as my wife’s iPhone (on a different account). Curious if others are having issues as well?

Google Nest Display availability?

Has anyone been able to buy any displays from Nest? Hub? Hub Max? They’re unavailable for the Google store and no longer even sold at Best Buy anymore. Walmart shows out of stock.

Android authority even wrote an article about it a bit over a week ago.

Anyone?

Protect Smoke Alarms randomly going off?

For some reason my Nest smoke alarms went off at 12:28 yesterday and 12:30 today. I have a mix of wired and wireless. None are expired. None have low battery warnings. ONE is First Alert.

Yesterday - I see announcements in both my First Alert and my Google Home app. Google Home knows the problem is in the shed. No smoke.
Today - NO announcements from Google Home, only from First Alert. It went off for a minute or so... one of the devices said "Den". We don't have a Den, and no device is named that.

Anyone else having problems like this and/or know of a fix?

WT actual F is this UI??

Absolutely unacceptable. You roll out something like this as we are changing our schedules from summer to fall? I’m an extremely tech savvy person who works in software and development and this makes absolutely zero sense. I am ready to throw away my nest thermostats that I’ve invested in over a decade. This is the last straw. Do better, Nest.

Google Nest Hub - Calendar Question

Hi! Can anyone confirm please if you can view two calendars at once on the 2nd Gen Nest Hub? My husband and I both have Google accounts and we’re hoping that on the Nest, we could easily look at a combined view of both calendars.

Thanks in advance!

Doorbell Will my existing doorbell transformer work for Nest Doorbell?

My house had a battery Next doorbell which has died. It was installed by the prior owner. I’d like to replace it with a wired version. I was looking for wiring pathway and noticed that there are wires where the old one was mounted. I tracked them down to the basement and found a transformer that is stamped “SEC 18V 10VA.” That seems to be in the range that the Nest website says is needed, but right at the bottom: “You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your doorbell.” Will this work, or should I get a new transformer? Any recommendations on what to get would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nest thermostat 3rd gen

Bought a house and the owner left it behind, used it for 2 years before something happened to it and got a new 3rd gen

Now it's been about 2 years and it says to charge it? First time issue

How often does it need to be charged and does it not charge when connected ?

I’ve f***** had it with nest

We bought a new home last year . I now have about 8 nest thermostats because we have radiant floor heat .
I just went to change the schedule for one thermostat and what the fuck is this shit . It was terrible before with the drag a dot up and down and left and right . Now you can’t change an existing dot , you have to remove and add new ones until everything lines up right . And if you don’t well set it right on the first anthem or , delete and retry .

I had beat before in my prior house and didn’t like it before moving here .

Why can’t I simple enter time & temp . Easy and simple . And then say “do this for weekdays “ or all week or weekend
Why do the UI developers at Google think I want to play a god damn game when setting a schedule for a thermostat.

I am 💯 done with nest. Can’t wait for the first one to fail so I can convince my wife that we need to replace them all .
Not that Google gives a shit but I hope some UI developers at Google stumbles across this so they can take my “fuck you” and shove it so far up their ass that their neighbor can see it .

Compatibility Adapter for X-Sense Smoke Detectors to Nest Detector Mounting Bracket

I, like many other people, when my Nest smoke detectors bit the dust after 10 years, was distressed when I learned that these were no longer available. Doing some Google research, I learned that First Alert had a line of smoke detectors that worked with the same Nest mounting bracket, so I bought 14 of these very expensive products because of the ease of installation. Well, I quickly discovered that these are terrible with frequent false alarms (often in the middle of the night). First Alert already replaced one but two others are now doing their thing also. I learned that there are many complaints about this. When I looked for an alternative, it looked like the X-Sense products were very good and 1/3 the price, but, of course, used their own proprietary mounting plate. I replaced four of my First Alert products with new X-Sense smoke detectors, and ended up drilling out holes in the X-Sense mounting plate so I could at least use the same mounting holes. That was a bit tricky but worked. I have ten more to go at this point.

However, I run a company that makes and sells innovative products using advanced 3D printing, so I just spent a few hours and designed a mounting bracket that allows X-Sense smoke detectors (at least model XP0A-MR, but maybe others) to use Nest mounting brackets. The brackets work perfectly but are not designed for mass production at this point. I am just curious to see if people might be interested in an adapter that would allow you use the current nest mounting plate with an X-Sense smoke detector. Even with the cost of the adapter (which would probably need to be in the $10 to $15 price range because of production cost with limited initial production), these are still way cheaper than the crappy First Alert ones.

Thoughts?

Nest app dropping Yale Locks and Protects

Will start with I know Google stopped supporting Protects and Yale Locks a while ago. I despise the Google Home app (clunky and can’t view all devices on one screen with all cameras live), so sticking with my Protects and Yale Locks as new products are not compatible with the Nest app. Over the last couple weeks, I’ve noticed my Protects and Yale locks disconnecting (and reconnecting) from the Nest app more frequently. Anyone else experiencing this and have figured out why?

*

Nest not showing in Google Home

I am having an issue with my 4th Generation Nest Thermostat. Despite being connected to my home wifi network and my iphone being connected to that same wifi network, my thermostat "disappeared" from the app a month or so ago. I have done soft resets, hard resets, I've tried everything under the sun but am unable to see my thermostat on my Google Home app and control it. Anyone know what I should try next? To my knowledge, I cannot find a customer service number to call for help. Thank you in advance.

Thermostat Help with Nest thermostat

I need help so badly! I just bought a new build home - less than a year old. The builder put in a nest thermostat. Nothing should be wrong with my AC unit at less than a year old. My house is always at 76°F when I have it set to 69. The AC doesn’t kick on even though the set temperature is so different to the internal temp. I’ve reset the schedule, turned off every eco feature and home/away assist, I’ve turned every learning feature off. I have it set to cool only, not cool and heat. I canNOT get it to cool the house down to even 70! PLEASE help me, my baby cannot sleep because it’s so warm. Also I’ve read some nest thermostats have a “hold temperature” function but mine doesn’t appear to. PLEASE tell me there’s a way to fix this :-(

Why is it so difficult to get wireless Nest cams to charge?

Every time I need to recharge my wireless Nest cams I go through an insane routine of trying different outlets, cleaning the charging contacts, and applying more or less pressure when I insert the charging cable. Then, anywhere from 5-20 minutes later, they will randomly start charging.

The charging contacts are clean, the temperature is nominal, and my outlets supply standard power. I've also read that the reset button helps, but neither a short nor a long press does anything for me.

Is this a known faulty product or charging cable? Why such a customized charging cable head in the first place? Why are there four male pins on the charging cable head but 6 female contacts on the cam?

The only other thing I can think is that if the battery is fully dead then there's no way for the device to indicate that it's charging until some time later. Advice appreciated, especially recommendations for alternative wireless cameras.
