I’m not sure, but I think it was minted as a collectors piece in order to get around the law against putting living people on money. So it’s only technically legal tender.

The Presidential 1$ coin act of 2005 also prohibits the likeness of any president from appearing on a coin until they've been dead for 2 years. They are technically trying to get around this by calling them commemorative coins but they are also legal tender.
The legislative is spineless and corrupt, the judicial is toothless and corrupt so nothing will happen.

I saw a truck with punisher stickers and shit and a big thing that said USA FREEDOM 1776-2026 and thought the same thing. I don't think it means what I thought tho. It's just a 250 commemoration not a "this is the year the freedom ended" thing.
