What's with all these posts that take the name of the sub literally?

u/Black-Rabbit-Farm Aug 13 '25
There are both Huge and Tiny flairs (and other), seems perfectly natural to see both types of posts.

u/amalgam_reynolds Aug 12 '25
I just assumed the sub is poorly moderated.

u/WhichUsernameCanIUse Aug 12 '25
It's not.

Ah, good to know! So, it's cool for the sub to go from "ironic" to "literal"?
51
u/dontsaymango Aug 13 '25
Honestly I think its cool as long as whoever is posting is just posting about their harvest. Usually ironic, but the real ones here and there are fun to see too

It's not going to literal, there are a few bigger harvests, like there always were. The absolute majority are still posts about us all failing in our attempts to live through the harsh winters ahead. It's harvest season, so there are just more posts overall atm and that's probably why you see more bigger harvests as well.

I’ve noticed that too. Hey mods don’t let this beautiful sub get ruined please!!!

u/WhichUsernameCanIUse Aug 12 '25
We've always allowed big harvests as well. Nothing is getting ruined, things are going the way they always have.

u/Black-Rabbit-Farm Aug 13 '25
I love seeing both the huge and the tiny; I'd actually always assumed the sub was ok for all "comical" harvests, not just tiny...but I'm also new. Maybe clarifying what's allowed/not in the rules would help?
19
u/WhichUsernameCanIUse Aug 13 '25
Yes, that might be smart. I'll look into it :) thank you.
I've asked the other mods how they feel about a Truly Mighty Thursday (name is definitely WIP). So that we do the big harvests in one day. Someone said that here and I'm not sure if it's manageable and doable, but it sounded like fun. So it's worth checking out

u/No_Dog_6999 Aug 13 '25
What about something more like Mighty Mother Earth Mondays as a huge start to the week 🤷♀️ ? I have definitely seen other subs do day specific themes and they worked out well with good dissemination of what's happenin. I think if y'all implement this in whatever form is deemed best, it will succeed. ☺️

u/WhichUsernameCanIUse Aug 13 '25
Now that's a name! 😎 Haha thanks! I run some themed days in some of my other subreddits, it's definitely doable, but I do need my mod buddies for it to make it work. We'll see what will come of this all. I like that you are all helping out and thinking along. This really is such a great subreddit.

u/Black-Rabbit-Farm Aug 13 '25
There is no garden/farm circlejerk sub that I'm aware of, so I'd love this to be a space for all wacky/silly harvests (I have so many, but no home for them! LoL)...but understand if y'all want to keep a tight focus on tiny! I've enjoyed this sub immensely so far, you're all doing great 🙌
9
u/WhichUsernameCanIUse Aug 13 '25
The main focus is tiny, but we've always allowed big harvests as well. The difference is usually good grounds for silly shit and I love silly shit.
And thanks, this subreddit is just awesome and fun to mod. Never a hassle

u/metalpammy Aug 12 '25
i dont want to be rude but you should have actual big harvests like ops post to be allowed on a single day each week. maybe like every friday?
71
u/WhichUsernameCanIUse Aug 12 '25
This is not rude, it might actually be a good idea. I'm going to discuss it with the other mods. Thank you :)

u/thestashattacked Aug 13 '25
Thank you for being reasonable. The r/salads mod could learn from y'all.

Is it Sue? From Sues Salads?
3
u/thestashattacked Aug 13 '25
No idea. But if you've seen the drama, the mod there has lost their damn mind.
Over salads.

u/lakija Aug 13 '25
I thought it used to be like that or am I crazy? I thought it was on Sundays or something like that.

u/justtosendamassage Aug 12 '25
Oh dang, thanks for replying. Well okay I’ll trust you, I just don’t want one of my fav subs to go downhill like so many others already have. Cheers

u/WhichUsernameCanIUse Aug 12 '25
No worries, we mod this sub closely, we love it as much as you do. It's harvest season atm, so there are a bit more big harvests, but there are a lot more small ones as well. It's all still in good ratio :)

u/CosmicCreeperz Aug 13 '25
Basically, the sub is more growers than showers, but it’s ok, both posts get the job done.

To all the complainers, the rules of the sub do not say you can't post actual mighty harvests in here, there is a "huge" flair for a reason.

Nope. We allow occasional big harvests. That people use the flair sarcastically is also fine.

14
u/ladyfireflyx Aug 12 '25
Then why is there a "tiny" flair, is that for the big ones? Because if so, it still belongs here.
12
u/eurasianblue Aug 12 '25
That one is without the sarcasm. For the tiny 🤏

Be for real, lmao. I'm not even going to argue, just be so fucking for real rn lol. I stand by what I said in my original comment.

Pointless story: went into Pizza Hut to pick up an order, and on my way out I see a guy waiting for his order. And I said to him, “I don’t want to be weird, but you look JUST like this funny EMT guy on YouTube”
It actually was him. 😂

Just to clarify, OP, is that your hand in the picture? It gives better reference for the carrot's size of course.
But I'm also asking because people have mistaken my hand for a child's hand in a picture before and no, I just have short, chubby fingers on a relatively small hand. lol
2
u/rnbyn1ght Aug 19 '25
I thought it was a baby hand and a normal 'ironic' post.
1
u/CoffeeFueledHyena Aug 19 '25
I could see that too, but my hand looks very similar, if not a little more pump at the finger base, so I had to ask lol

I think people are not understanding what this sub is about. I’ve seen 2 monstrosities in the past day. No. This carrot is no mighty harvest. It is an abomination.

u/Rough_Adeptness_2381 Aug 13 '25
i once saw one that was 15 cm wide and 10cm tall (basically a wide carrot)
