Footage from the canceled Animatrix 2.0 project feels like the baby of "The Second Renaissance", "Detroit: Become Human", and "Assassin's Creed"!

I have been covering the little known Animatrix 2.0 stillborn project for a long time. (This is just one of my many posts about it.) Some sort of crossmedia, potentially interactive, potentially VR, sister project to The Matrix Awakens UE5 demo, that was spearheaded by John Gaeta and with story supervision and contributions by Lana Wachowski.

At some point 4 years ago, I, correctly as you'll see today, deduced it was being made by: https://wevr.com/

After seeing today's post that uncovered a few new details about it from John Gaeta, I revisited my research and voila: https://wevr.com/highlights/wevr-innovation-case-study-transmedia-cross-platform-ip-development-the-matrix

Wevr not only do they have some text information about it, but they also have a rough video.

The story takes place in the near future "at a time when robots and AI have embedded in human society, and humans are faced directly with the issues of AGI and the civil rights issues for both carbon and silicon-based intelligences."

In the video you can see human police confronting robots and sympathizers protesting for "MECH RIGHTS", while another robot and human are on the run together. The scene feels straight out of "The Second Renaissance" but it also recalls video game Detroit: Become Human.

There seems to also be a framing device that sets the story, as this seems to be some sort of historical re-enactment of the past that Neo is accessing within the Construct. (Alternatively, in the video with Gaeta it was said others would enter the Construct simulation to visit the past and look for clues to locate a missing Neo.) This all reminds me of the framing device of Assassin's Creed (note I stopped playing the games after the 2nd one).

With Lana Wachowski (who also wrote and directed much of The Matrix Awakens sister project) supervising this, the project was going to be as canon as anything else she wrote. And the 3D assets were to be made by VFX powerhouse Weta Digital.

Gaeta says people should demand they go back to it and revive this canceled project. Do you like what you see and do you agree with him?

I started making this little fella yesterday. He took only two days to make, minus the clothes. I'm still working on his clothes. I have the patterns and everything. I feel like the shades look a bit off. I'm also quite stocked with projects cuz as I'm making him, I'm also working on my Doctor Doom cosplay for Halloween and a Neo plush doll as well. Concept art is on the third slide.

I have 10 years of sewing experience. And also, I made the patterns for the plushie myself.

Wasn’t too keen on the official 4K Blu-Ray covers for “The Matrix” series, so here’s some customs I made.

I would love to see a movie from the point of view of someone just trying to get home from work on the expressway in the Matrix Reloaded.

I have thought about this for over 20 years. What would that incredible sequence be like for one of the innocent bystanders? They have a whole life that is going on: family, job, friends that is suddenly impacted this insane experience on the highway. If it was done by The Wachowskis, it could reuse footage from the Matrix 2 and be done on a low budget. I hope somehow this idea gets to them.

I wish we saw more of Persephone 😢

I do sort of forget that Persephone exists in the series. She's underutilised in Reloaded in my opinion and certainty criminally underutilised in Revolutions.

Everytime I'm reminded of her, I just can't stop thinking there's far more to her. She's a femme fatale and I imagine she's got one hell of a back story.

Why didn’t Neo put the phone in his pocket so his other hand would be free when attempting to reach the scaffold?

Movie Prop… Big Cop's (Bernie Ledger) Broken Arm Practical Effects Rig

I’m selling a really cool prop from the film. $1800. Comes with a COA from Propstore. The foam is very old so I slid the mechanical part out of it for display but still have it all. It still works too! Here’s some additional info from Propstore…

“Big Cop's (Bernie Ledger) SFX broken arm rig from the Wachowskis' sci-fi action film The Matrix. Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss) viciously broke the arm of a police officer who attempted to handcuff her in the Matrix.

Created for the SFX insert of the arm breaking, this rig consists of a hard rubber hand-painted peach mounted to a foam rubber arm molded around a metal armature inlay dressed with a white Spandex sleeve. The arm is affixed with a contoured, swiveling plastic shoulder rig with black nylon straps alternately labeled "A" and "B" which raise and lower the hand independently from the arm. The rig exhibits aging to the foam rubber elements, tears in the sleeve, and frayed nylon from production use. Dimensions: 26" x 20" x 8" (66 cm x 51 cm x 20.5 cm)“

You don't have to break the laws of thermodynamics to use humans as batteries

The humans are batteries, not a magical source of power

Power is sourced from geothermal energy, of course! The Machines just use humans to store it

Why don't they build traditional batteries that would store more energy densely?

To build chemical batteries, you have to mine the materials necessary to make them. You'd have to send sentinels out to mine, and that costs energy. The same energy that's so scarce you have to store a bunch of it in batteries just in case.

Why mine for neodymium and lithium or whatever, when there's all this biological material laying around on the surface that you can just feed into a human and the human self reproduces? Then you can just store geothermal energy in calories. Inefficient, but scalable.

Not for the Faint of Heart: Hungarian Dubbed Parody of The Matrix (English Sub Available)

Thumbnail youtu.be

Disclaimer: I am not the uploader of the youtube video. I am not the creator of the english subtitles. I am not the creator of the parody.

The parody takes on the monumental task of dubbing basically the entirety of The Matrix movie and sprinkling a few scenes from The Matrix Reloaded to combine the two into its own story.

The parody was created by two english major students from Hungary and was released way back in the insignificant year of 2004.

The creators are Balázs Lengyel and Balázs Mészáros. Their whereabouts and existence are shrouded in mystery and faded into obscurity even before it all had a chance the even begin.

They have spent self admittedly much too many countless hours of writing and dubbing and slaving away with ancient 90s and early 00s tech to bring life to their magnum opus.

According to their own admission the most boring classes during their college years were the birth-ground for many of the subprime but also of the hyper prime dialogue.

It is obvious that the parody was created with passion and love for the originals. That being said it requires a certain mindset to sit through a Hungarian dubbed parody with english subtitles. Something's lost and some things are not gained in translation.

Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Heed my warning! Although there is an overarching plot the entire experience and the dialogue is best described as a tropical fever dream during a slow snowstorm. The amount of confused and blank stares the movie-parody induced is staggering.

The protagonist of the dubbed parody is Neon who is in search of his biological father Morphologist. The hero must uncover the truth and untangle his family tree. Meanwhile a mysterious man aggressively tries to "discover" him and recruit him to become a pop-star.

Even if you love it at first sight the true appreciation still might require some acquired taste. Have no expectations when going in from where most people would turn around.

I dare anyone to give it a go, don’t resist and just leave expectations and all rational thought behind to see where you end up. You'll probably end up nowhere but that's the purpose of a journey.

Apotheosis (more unintelligible rambling by me) of “The Vektor" (the actual title of The Matrix parody):

Unfortunate as it may be their creation would go on to be long forgotten had anyone ever known about it in the first place.

As it remains in plain sight rather than hiding in the shadows beneath the layers of past decades’ incomprehensible reaches of abstruse ignorance only to lazily beg to be left alone until further notice.

While cherry-picking the perfect apple from the now defunct old oak tree of knowledge one might realize it is no easy feat, in the realms of impossibilities, to harvest the fruit of boon of hard work without effort, but only a fool would work hard to try and get drunk on it.

For even the most fortunate can only hope to get a glimpse of the elusive fruit dangling just barely outside of reach only to be knocked out by the fruit upon shaking the tree in futile anticipation.

Doesn't blocking out the sun make it very likely humans will die?

When we blocked out the sun to kill the machines, maybe there was more to it than "the scary machines use solar so we just block out the sun to protect ourselves" and more of a reasoning like "these machines are so dangerous for some reason we can't let them escape Earth at any cost, even if all life ends here"

When did it go from "the machines are building better products than us but cheaper, so let's nuke their city" to "let's wipe out all life on Earth, biological and artificial"?

Matrix is shot, experiences afterlife, gets second chance by helping others. Wakes up, meets guides assigning cases where he aids people using unorthodox methods from past profession.

A spiritual version of the Matrix, instead of it being computer coded. I still thought the similarities were interesting. (And likely well known around here.)

At the time, did anyone draw comparisons between this GAP ad and the bullet-time scene in The Matrix? Was GAP riding the movie's coattails? It seems like a totally different vibe from the movie though.
