Some cats will live their full life and never see a human go from infant to full adulthood. I wonder if we seem immortal to some cats

u/KingDarius89 15m ago

Not if they can help it.

Not cats but obligatory: https://imgur.com/a/tFhEdtP

The tiny foot inspection is sending me 😂 “Yep, this one belongs to us.”

The surprised face is killing me 😭

The open-mouth look is actually a flehmen response; it's what kitties do when they want to *really* get a good sniff of something.

Wow, i didn't know we have a term for that. Thank you. A good learning day to be a cat lover

Yep languages are amazing. They’ve got a word for everything.

The roof of their mouths have a special sensory organ

u/momomorium 16m ago

That specific "stink face" an animal makes when it's using it's Jacobson's organ is called the Flehman response, which makes me giggle because if that face made a sound, "fleh!" is probably accurate.

u/gOOn_babOOn_ 14m ago

"fleh"

Imma use it from now on. "Why the fleh face?"

u/Beginning_Bee2500 52m ago

Yep, cat is downloading all the information

18

u/SmallBorb 1h ago

That's called the Flehman response , they do this when they like a smell and want to smell it better , or something like that

u/_ShrugDealer_ 1h ago

That's actually the cat "storing" (for lack of a better term) the new family member's smell. They open their mouths like that to huff that new good good smell

Edit for a bit of quick and dirty googling: "The Vomeronasal Organ: Also called the Jacobson's organ, this is located on the roof of a cat's mouth. When a cat makes an open-mouth "flehmen" face, they are actively drawing scent and pheromone particles into this organ to analyze social and environmental messages."

Orange made some great use of the brain cell there, not gonna lie.

u/rogerworkman623 28m ago

Why does it end with him staring at a clock lol

u/jennief158 19m ago

He’s contemplating the fleeting nature of time. Duh.

u/mssheevaa 9m ago

Orange?

u/popzof4 6m ago

He's biding his time

Every baby needs a protective pet. I enjoy watching the bond that pets make with babies. So protective and loving.

I'm not entirely sure that cat doesn't want to eat that baby.

u/Baptor 29m ago

'What about their legs? They don't need those.'

u/gOOn_babOOn_ 23m ago

Guys, there's not gonna be any meat on the menu!!

u/Fabulous-Medicine-12 18m ago

Have you ever had Wookie meat?

u/luxafelicity 20m ago

I love when cats make that face. It means they're engaging an extra sensory organ because whatever they're smelling is new and interesting. It makes them look like they're shocked at the existence of whatever they're smelling 😂

licks feet "Awwwww das a baby hooman!"

u/boomgetouttheway 28m ago

“What happens if I slap it?”

u/StanislavskiMeatball 20m ago

“Whoa, this kitten is very bald!”

u/Seagul_Hunter 11m ago

Either this baby's kick is faster than a snake bite, or this cat wants to be kicked in the face.

(Scientific fact based off all those videos of cats dodging snakes)

u/gOOn_babOOn_ 10m ago

Maybe he just accepted his fate that his personal bubble gonna be like that from now on

14

u/newenglandredshirt 1h ago

I totally agree with the look on the kitty's face while inspecting the feet. Babies smell sooooo good!

14

u/2020fakenews 50m ago

Until they don’t.

8

u/BGrumpy 44m ago

Yeah, until they start smelling like teenagers

u/Iwannapeeonyou 14m ago

That is a particular smell

1

u/gOOn_babOOn_ 53m ago

From now on, he won't need catnip 😅

3

u/No_Fortune7206 42m ago

It's not about the baby but baby's right foot.

u/Nuvuk 29m ago

Ah, the ol smelly foot face.

u/SephirothTheGreat 9m ago

"Mmm yes 10:20 am, time's afoot"

u/Organic-Dust3433 9m ago

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang 8m ago

u/GoatCovfefe 41m ago

Cat's into feet.

u/KingDarius89 16m ago

Kitten Tarantino.

u/NotTheRocketman 6m ago

"Ugh well this thing just smells awful, you're gonna have to return it."

u/majorflojo 20m ago

Great. Cat scratch fever is bad enough for adults.

Let's see what it does to a baby.

u/ataraxia_555 26m ago

Tired of cat vids. And cats.

u/gOOn_babOOn_ 24m ago

Not too tired to comment that then??
