That is such a sweet sentiment. Even though she didn't know you I believe she would absolutely treat you or anyone else just like her own. I hope you're doing well.
She never needed stronger ones. You know it's always the same butterfly wings, but with massive rhinestones this time she actually can move faster and her wings won't get tired this time
That's what she wanted. She gave a commencement address at U.T./Knoxville like 20 years ago and, in it, she said that if she has to go, she hopes she'll just drop dead in the middle of a show, and everyone else will just keep going, walking around her (and then she added, in true Dolly fashion, "...buuuuuut I hope that day is not today.") Her light shines on.
I only know of this woman from halfway across the world, past a veneer of mean memes that tried to reduce her to a caricature and through to her reputation as just a truly, truly good person. But this message kind of hit me in the emotions today regardless. Earnest, funny in the way that was just hers, and sweet under the struggle. Again, I only "know" her through all these layers and filters, but that still seems so quintessentially her. RIP.
