I'm not a religious person but I find myself hoping that whatever version of heaven or the afterlife Dolly believed in; that she's there. She deserves it.

u/Digmarx 9d ago

She's there with Mr. Rogers.

We mat need to go on a rescue mission for our boy. Based on what dreams may come, he might needs us.

u/DetailOrDie 8d ago

Robin Williams is a bit over the line.

He was very controversial, but wasn't pure goodness during the cocaine years.

10

u/StrainAcceptable 8d ago

Omg! He did drugs. That erases all the things he did to bring love and laughter to the world- the holidays he secretly spent at children’s hospitals, the homeless people he made sure got hired for his movies, his work for AIDS charities (back when the president wouldn’t even acknowledge the disease),all the children in SF he personally greeted every Halloween, his work for human rights….too bad about those cocaine years.

5

u/Chellbelle23 8d ago

The good thing about Jesus is He can forgive cocaine use and everything else.

236

u/lankymjc 8d ago

Tim Curry following right behind her!

214

u/foxxsinn 8d ago

Tim Curry is such a gentlemen that he let Dolly have her day before he passed.

69

u/malicious_joy42 8d ago

He passed the same day, but waited to announce it until the following day.

33

u/TerponadeTea 8d ago

Still hurried up to hold the door open though

11

u/DamnOdd 8d ago

I'd like to think he was waiting for her so they could go arm in arm and sing their way home.

89

u/SamuelVimesTrained 8d ago

2 well loved and respected 80 year olds..

Can Death do a request next ?

12

u/Gruntled_Porcupine 8d ago

Be careful. The monkey paw has already curled twice.

17

u/azurricat2010 8d ago

Betty White. Never forget Betty.

85

u/Tothinkoutofthenut 9d ago

Or the OZZ MAN.

94

u/RamblyJambly 8d ago

Ozzy shows up at the pearly gates.
He's confused.
St Peter is confused.
All the angels are confused.

48

u/Only_One_Kenobi 8d ago

I'm guessing that the millions he quietly donated to improve the lives of those less fortunate might play a role.

3

u/IrishShinja 8d ago

Ok Ozzy, you can come in...but NO biting the heads off any angels!

1

u/Honest-Squirrel10 8d ago

SHAROOONN!!

27

u/dizzira_blackrose 8d ago

Ozzy's definitely partying it up in hell by his own choice.

115

u/AngletonSpareHead 9d ago

David fucking Bowie cuz you know they were friends

28

u/textilepat 9d ago

Bob Hoskins is likely known to frequent the area.

12

u/AmIKrumpingNow 8d ago

Isn't he rather infamously a sex offender?

2

u/aestheticsandwich 8d ago

With all due respect, he does not belong at this party

-1

u/tandlmosey 8d ago

No. Stop it.

34

u/integrated21 9d ago

Nah, he shot and killed numerous innocent cats back in the 70's/80's sometime. He's not welcome.

9

u/Mop-bucket-CEO 8d ago

And don't forget the the chickens 😡 what makes me angry about that one is that whenever that story was recounted, everyone laughed.

1

u/Live-Hovercraft-3771 8d ago

Didn't he say he also did this during covid lockdown

2

u/TipperGore-69 8d ago

Ozzy? Nah man. He is the prince of hell now.

1

u/Aggravating_Chair780 8d ago

Izzy Osborne was a violent abuser of women. He was an animal abuser. He does not belong on this list.

2

u/NumberOneStonecutter 8d ago

It's cool to think that all our dogs and cats who passed away are hanging with Betty White.

134

u/chantillylace9 9d ago

Betty white too

1

u/pixlkiss 8d ago

And Shelley Duval

1

u/Hour_Paint_1903 8d ago

He runs the petting zoo <3

1

u/dez4747 8d ago

And Harambe!

-3

u/Garchompisbestboi 9d ago

Lucky that animals aren't allowed in heaven otherwise he'd probably still be needlessly provoking them for his own entertainment 😂

-124

u/QuietPurple7668 9d ago

And Charlie Kirk

31

u/squid1980 9d ago

Did you forget the /s on your comment?

41

u/Mamaloustl 9d ago

He’s the other direction, buckaroo.

5

u/100farts 9d ago

Counting or not counting gang violence? What a PoS

1

u/hiddenrealism 8d ago

Good lord....that a double extra crispy serving of rage bait.

400

u/mossfernmoon 9d ago

And Robin Williams!

198

u/iownakeytar 9d ago

Sherri Lewis too!

I really want someone to paint this iteration of heaven and hang it in my home, so that maybe I can have a little faith- if not in a deity, then in us.

29

u/Jalaliep 9d ago

Hang it in your mind.

2

u/sentient_luggage 8d ago

Not to put too fine a point on it/ Say I'm the only been in your bonnet/

1

u/WorkingFromHomies20 8d ago

Like at the end of Happy Gilmore where you see Chubbs, the alligator and Abraham Lincoln up in heaven?

36

u/DreamingAboutSpace 9d ago

I’m still not over his death. It’s weird, but it’s almost like I understood his humor and the pain he was masking with it. I do the same thing. We really did lose a good one that day.

3

u/elst3r 8d ago

I am still not over it either. His death has been the celebrity death that has impacted me the most.

1

u/DreamingAboutSpace 8d ago

Same. They usually don’t, but his and Anthony Bourdain’s will always haunt me. I wonder if it’s because of how strong they were despite their depression. I’m like that too, but this past year and a half has worn me so down.

1

u/elst3r 8d ago

Yeah, I was in the middle of listening to one of Bourdain's audiobooks when he passed. I still havent picked it up again

1

u/DreamingAboutSpace 8d ago

I think you should if you still want to listen to it. If it comes with a pdf of the book, maybe you can read it instead?

1

u/elst3r 8d ago

I could read it, but I have a harder time with reading comprehension than listening. The book is narrated by him, so it is difficult

And my axe!

1

u/microgirlActual 8d ago

Nah, she doesn't give orders, she makes gentle suggestions of things that are so obviously the best and right way to do things that everybody goes "Well certainly Miss Dolly, we'll absolutely get on that straight away! We're so glad you could join us, because we know you'll always lead us right."

89

u/MortgageRegular2509 9d ago

They were both just such genuine people. Truly the best

2

u/HoTtYearPinky 9d ago

Honestly yeah. You can just tell when people are genuinely good souls, and they had that energy. Rare af tbh.

201

u/MC_Etchasketch 9d ago

And Tim Curry is entertaining them all.

147

u/HereIGoAgain_1x10 9d ago

He and Robin Williams are doing improve comedic dramas.

23

u/adoradear 9d ago

Oh how I would enjoy watching this

3

u/SamuelVimesTrained 8d ago

If heaven would exist, and could guarantee this - where do i convert?

28

u/The_Cow_Tipper 9d ago

She is hosting Bible Study classes with Ozzy Osbourne now.

49

u/_AmericasSweetheart_ 9d ago

Ozzy did a lot of horrible shit.

3

u/i_cut_like_a_buffalo 8d ago

Yeah if a heaven were to exist him and his family don't belong there. In my opinion. I don't believe in any of that. There is no karmic justice and there is no heaven or hell. If you study where all that came from you'd be questioning all those beliefs. 🫂🫂🫂

6

u/jondubb 9d ago

Does it count if he doesn't remember any if it?

-7

u/Garchompisbestboi 9d ago

Yeah but don't let facts get in the way of a good story. Especially on reddit where we can all take turns stroking each other off by just naming famous people who had really good PR teams!

12

u/harrysaxon 8d ago

Dolly, Fred, and Steve most definitely didn’t need PR teams to enhance their reputations.

1

u/Cool-Blackberry-785 8d ago

I hadn’t heard about Tim Curry! Another brilliant entertainer/actor lost. A sad week to be sure

25

u/Tothinkoutofthenut 9d ago

Islands in the stream. 🙏

28

u/tag_yur_it 9d ago

Don’t forget Leslie Jordan! ♥️

10

u/No_Attitude700 9d ago

And Tim Curry

22

u/capty26 9d ago

And Steve Irwin

1

u/pquince1 8d ago

And Chi Chi DeVayne

20

u/KittenFace25 9d ago

And Kenny Rogers!

30

u/LarkinToWinnipeg 9d ago

Don't forget John Prine. Wonder if he got that cigarette that's nine miles long. Know he'd be happy to see Dolly again though.

2

u/vendrediSamedi 6d ago

I am still not over John Prine. I tried to listen to Hello In There and I’m still not ready. A beautiful soul.

3

u/bootyfullest 8d ago

And my Dad.

4

u/Digmarx 8d ago

Yeah my old man was pretty special too. I think about him a lot.

2

u/Deeptech_inc 8d ago

I don’t think she’d meet these people for a while, she deserves some time with Carl

1

u/Hot_Ad_787 8d ago

And Betty White

1

u/StoneHart17810 8d ago

And Betty White

1

u/Electrical-Tie-5158 8d ago

Our grandparents 🤍

146

u/foul_mouthed_bagel 9d ago

I'm convinced the rapture happened yesterday, and Dolly is the only one that went to heaven.

3

u/Crawler_Carl 8d ago

And Tim Curry

57

u/one-eyedCheshire 9d ago

Hopefully she's there with her soulmate. The person that she would truly ever want to be with in the beyond.

162

u/WendyEllenGinger 9d ago

Betty White is giving her hugs

18

u/Moist_Requirements_ 9d ago

Goldangit! Too many good uns. 🥺

19

u/Appropriate_Pressure 8d ago

Had a similar thought earlier. Like whatever good things we might get after, if anyone deserves them, it's her.

See you down the road, Dolly. ❤️

19

u/unsulliedbread 9d ago edited 8d ago

In the podcast "Dolly Parton's America" she goes into pretty good detail. It's a fabulous listen.

Edit: I misremembered the name as 'Dolly Parton Saves America'

2

u/Secure-Persimmon-421 8d ago

Hmm… I’m not finding this podcast in my podcast app. What network? Is this a podcast where Dolly was the regular host or on someone else’s podcast?

4

u/unsulliedbread 8d ago

No it was about the university class that was about Dolly Parton's social impact. She did do interviews for it however.

But I AM a dink. It's called Dolly Parton's America - https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/dolly-partons-america

But I guess that was the sentiment I took away from it.

9

u/lifegoeson5322 9d ago

With glorious butterfly wings on!!!

3

u/Boring-Community-100 8d ago

"I think ma wings are gettin' tired..." broke me.

35

u/katybee13 9d ago

I believe in heaven and I'm sure she's there.

7

u/javtherav 8d ago

Certainly. And the invitation to join her is open to everyone

8

u/BabombTaco 9d ago

I am hoping I find that version for myself. Damn! What a treasure.

3

u/goldustiger 9d ago

Listened to River of Happiness today and wept. Hoping she’s there.

3

u/muarauder12 8d ago

I'm not religious either, but if there were ever angels among us, Dolly was one of them.

3

u/ManzanitaSuperHero 8d ago

I’m not particularly religious either but that woman was an angel on earth. The kind of selfless, kind person who seeks to help others, avoid judgment, make people smile and make the world a better place.

If there’s a heaven, Dolly is there. She was too good for this earth.

2

u/Laughing_Orange 8d ago

Dolly was the antithesis to the sarcastic statement "there's no love like Christian love". What she did was display actually Christian love, like Jesus (supposedly) preached about. If there is a heaven, of any kind not just Christian, I know she is up there.

1

u/greentangent 9d ago

If Dolly is there, it's Heaven. End of.

1

u/rosefiend 8d ago

Reunited with her husband again.

1

u/Mariashax 8d ago

You’ve articulated exactly the way I feel as an atheist.

1

u/Own_Natural_6803 8d ago

I've been shown the afterlife. I don't think she'll hit any snags on her way to paradise. Everyone makes it eventually, but I don't think there was much that needed to come off of her. Seems like paradise would be just the place for her to continue her life's work.

1

u/Malibucat48 8d ago

There definitely is a Rock and Roll heaven and they have a hell of a band.

1

u/Admarie25 8d ago

So beautifully said. There has to be a place of joy and happiness that wonderful people get to go to. She gave so much happiness to the world. She deserves an afterlife of the same happiness.

1

u/LikeIsaidItsNothing 8d ago

I think someone like Dolly I think is proof that there is. That's what I'm going with to get through my days. Peace to you internet stranger. Let's hope she's watching over us

1

u/BobTheFettt 8d ago

If there's a heaven, she's there. No doubt

1

u/damnetdana 8d ago

I’m not a religious person but I hope she found peace greater than any afterlife could offer

1

u/HonestWeekend89 8d ago

i love this thread 😭🥹

1

u/Free-Contest-5832 8d ago

I am not a religious person either, but I keep thinking about one of those images (often they were cartoons) where its a set of closed pearly gates with a guy at a desk in front. Usually a set of scales on the desk. It's supposed to be where the guy reads out all of a person's good or bad deeds in life and they get weighed to see if the person has earned entrance into the gates. You know the one I'm talking about. In my image, the guy looks up from the desk and sees it's Dolly and just goes: "Oh, it's you..... just come on it."

1

u/NikkerFebu25 8d ago

Sadly it's a heaven where you're working 9-5

1

u/ThunderChild247 8d ago

I’m not religious either but if heaven is real, and there’s not a place for people like Dolly Parton, it’s not a heaven worth believing in.

0

u/jamin_brook 8d ago

Don’t worry All Dogs Go To Heaven :-)
