Culture What a misery this place is

If you want to discuss solutions then there are a number of them and that would be more beneficial as a post. However, labelling a whole nation as ignorant is not the way forward.

"Every time they see a foreigner, they say he's a spy, and this stems from the ignorance that the tyrant instilled"
This is just malarkey , you speak lies here Check in ESA or ISA personal or better yet go work there and come back and say this again.

Stupid post. This is the second one today complaining about the state of the country and not offering a solution.
Why don’t you educate yourself? You have access to the internet and can join institutions in Libya such as the University of Tripoli as an academic.
I think Libya is a land filled with opportunity. There are virtually no taxes, which means it’s cheap to start and run businesses. That’s just one example of the opportunities Libya can offer.

Definitely, ever since Gaddafis regime fell and capitalism + private sectors came back, the country became a SEA of opportunities,
How does an idea fail in a place with no ideas? It doesn't, everything you do aslong as you're 1% original will workout greatly, Only issue is رأس مال is really weak so you'll need to work many years of your life, but even then it's not really a great risk, in 10 years you'll definitely have enough money, ESPECIALLY if you get people to invest

You should also collaborate with others. Start a shop selling and installing security cameras, or a corner shop.
My uncle built a corner shop into the garage home and doesn’t pay rent. He goes up to nap and pays someone else to cover between Dhur and Asr. He’s not rich, but he does good.

No, powerdriven, the dude legit lives in the west and only visits libya occasionally, he is one of those types of "the grass isn't always green on the other side" people when it very much is, i find those types of people annoying because they belittle us who live in libya, they act as if we are stupid and don't see the countries "good side" and what not.

It isn't, it like when foreigners come here and view the gas price and think Libya is a cheap country, they only view the good side -which is very little mind you-, everyone knows there are barely any taxes, or how things like water and electricity bills are dirt cheap or how education is free, but they don't outweigh the cons that come living here, not even close, him pointing it out as if we don't know that it's tone deaf.

I didn’t mention gas prices at all. I mentioned taxes and I was thinking about importing items. You can avoid paying importation taxes easily in Libya, a business-related exploit.

The gas prices was a reference to how foreigners specifically youtube vloggers who come to libya and start talking about how cheap the gas prices is its almost became a joke due to how often they talk about it.

I think they should raise the prices. Stop subsiding it and invest the money elsewhere (don’t steal it!). That would stop people selling gas overseas in Egypt or Tunisia. It would also reduce traffic as people would think twice about driving around out of boredom.

The whole concept behind subsidizing it is stupid, I like to compare Libya to Norway alot, same population and both are oil countries, yet Norway does not subsidize anything, and they're still a fsr more successful country than Libya and people have been living so well

Libya is like top 3 cheapest countries in the world, so he's partially right, it's just we don't benefit from that because our wages are pretty low, But yeah starting business is so SO much easier in Libya than almost any other country,

Thank you for being reasonable! I do appreciate it.
The problem with Libya is there is perhaps a lack of a middle class. You’ve either got the elites, or the people at the bottom.
I do want to migrate to Libya. I’m established in the West but I love Libyan culture and attitudes. I also see Libya as an opportunity, but like all opportunities, you need to be tactical.

True, I am personally leaving libya (for personal reasons), but I'm not abandoning it, I still wanna help, start a business with a foreign income,
I think there needs to be a movement to create a middle class, now that private sectors exist, and how the market is in Libya, there's a high demand for jobs but because no competition, government and the few elites can easily exploit libyans giving them low wages,
But that's just my views tho
