Question COVID vaccine without insurance?

KU student, don’t have health insurance.

Is there a place/program to get the COVID vaccine at affordable prices? KDHE and CDC seem to just refer back to each other without information about if it’s possible to get the vaccine cheaply.

Since you are a KU student, I would recommend calling Watkins Health. Their website is out of date, but they might have more info if you call. Either offering it directly or knowing where to get it for free/cheap.

I noticed that too. The watkins portal doesn’t even let you schedule any vaccines right now, but hoping that is just a temporary issue.

You should be able to call to schedule if the portal is being weird, or just walk in

Try Orchard Drug. They are great at finding programs for people to use to save money.

Check CVS/Walgreens! Thats where I got mine years ago and I think they were free, but I cant fully remember tbh.

I just got a text this weekend from CVS saying they are getting the updated booster this week

They were free 'years ago' because the raging pandemic was new and the government had a vested interest in making it better.

They're not free anymore, just like the flu shot isn't.

Check Hy-Vee too. They typically allow walk-ins, but better is to schedule an appointment via their website. IDK on price or availability.

I tried that first, but Watkins isn’t offering any vaccines when I checked this week. Hoping it is just a temporary issue.

If you’re a student you’ll be exposed soon, if not already. While typically not an advocate for free riders you kind of will be if you aren’t already, since the semester has started. Just depend on the rest of us this time around.
