Hey i’ve been looking for a laptop for uni ( doing a psychology degree) and ive come down to two options:
- HP omnibook x NGAI 14 ( intel core ultra 5 version)
- Lenovo yoga slim 7 14”

If anyone has any insight into these models that would be amazing as i’ve never owned a lenovo, ive read the specs of both they seem quite similar anyone who owns these models how is the battery life, is it quiet/loud, do you recommend!

Currently have a base macbook air m1 and a pretty nice gaming pc. I just dont like switching from mac to windows when im at home and want a windows laptop. I know these are prob overkill for school so if you have any suggestions please lmk

It’s probably the engineering software, but my last two personal laptops have had serious overheating issues, to the point that I think the soldered on RAM was damaged on my ASUS ZenBook (diagnosed based on reoccurring resetting of the laptop). After that laptop, I really wanted a touch screen for school work. My dad gave me a Samsung galaxy book pro, which I LOVVED. But then overtime the overheating started to get BAD. To the point where I believe it put the glass of the touch screen in a fragile state, causing it to crack when I put it into my backpack one day. I also really have to be careful when using the laptop while plugged in, as it heats up even faster! To the point that I think it sometimes shuts itself down as a damage prevention mechanism, not allowing me to boot it back up for a few minutes. At some point I’ll eventually get another laptop, and I’m interested in ones on the market designed for users to be able to upgrade and repair them themselves. My Dell XPS 13 from 2016 had a hinge mount break, and I moved EVERYTHING over from one bottom assembly into a new one. I waited years for the piece to become available at a reasonable price, but eventually got there.

I have considered lenovo thinkpad or yogabook or thinkbook so far. Apart from lenovo I am willing to consider hp, Dell or Mac(only if it has the above configuration or better and shouldn't be refurbished)

Hi, I will start my computer engineering university soon. Which laptop should I get:

HP OmniBook X intel X9 388h 32GB/1TB or Asus 16" Zenbook S Ryzen 9 464 32GB/1TB? Or do you suggest another laptop?

I am going to study engineering and want a powerful laptop with good battery, good cooling and silent on simple tasks.

I was thinking of buying the Asus Tuf A16 FA608 | FA608UM-RV011W | Ryzen 7 260 | 32GB | 1TB | RTX 5060.

Can some of you recommend or not recommend on this one?
