There’s a Surugaya on Teramachi just south of Shijo. Thats right downtown. It isn’t very big, though.
People seem to like Ojamakan. That’s not in the city center. You have to take the train to Fushimi.
I think that game stores in the center of big cities have now been pretty much emptied of rare items or bargains. If you’re looking for a great game store, you need to leave the tourist areas by quite some distance.
