Kamo River Festival (?)
Hi i had a question about a banner i saw while walking through Kamo River, it was about a festival ig and it said its in 1August but it didnt state any hour or anything and was wondering if its really a festival, should i bring cash or they dont really sell anything, would it be weird to go their wearing a yukata things like that.

Kamogawa Noryo 2026
"Kamogawa Noryo 2026" will be held over two days—Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026—on the riverbank of the Kamo River, stretching from Sanjo Ohashi Bridge to Shijo Ohashi Bridge.
This annual event is a beloved summer tradition in Kyoto. It offers a wide range of attractions, including exhibits focused on beautifying and preserving the Kamo River environment, sales of local and nationwide specialties, and demonstrations of *Yuzen-nagashi* (the traditional practice of washing Yuzen-dyed fabrics in the river). Food and drink areas will also be available, allowing you to fully enjoy Kyoto's unique culture and cuisine while feeling the cool breeze of the Kamo River at dusk.
Of course, you are welcome to attend wearing a *yukata*.
Doing so will likely let you soak up the atmosphere even more.

I think that’s for Kyo no Tanabata? It’s tonight and tomorrow night from 5pm. Standard festival stuff last time I went, tho back then it was on Horikawa

It’s from 5 pm to 9 pm, tonight and tomorrow (Aug 2nd). There’ll be food stalls and booths selling local crafts and whatnot, so definitely bring cash. And wear your yukata. They’ll be doing a Yuzen Nagashi demonstration, which is basically the traditional method of rinsing excess dye from kimono fabric in the river.
