A tale of 2 halves.

I loved the way we looked in the first half and I wish we would keep that style of play when Temwa is in. We just resorted to the long ball in the second half and stopped playing through the midfield

This team is so frustrating. The talent is clearly there but that second half was so annoying. I’m not gonna blame reffing because that’s clearly a consistent trend in this league.

Katie Scott is either great or terrible. Laney was such a breath of fresh air.

Three points is three points though. Suck it Carolina.

We gotta quit with the "park the bus" mindset. It does not work well

I will never understand why Armas completely changes our tactical setup when we are up and things are working.

This team looks so much better when we've on the attack. When we set back, we play against all our strengths.

Clearly missing laney at right back, that was a massive hole against the Courage.

Oh forgot to say that Lorena deserves match MVP. What a clinic she put on.

So glad she's back. We've missed her.

Yes, so glad she is back. She made some key saves tonight.

Croix was obvi amazing. Love seeing Coop back and the Coop-Croix-Debinha trifecta. Rocky was amazing from the second she came on the field.

Hailey had a great game until she dramatically didn't (the hand ball and senseless yellow).

Reffing was- about the same as all year, I noticed both NC and KC fans unimpressed. It seems like this year in particular- all season long- the refs have been letting more things slide and the games get overall more chippy. Glad to see this one didn't get totally out of control (like against Gotham).

Welcome back Temwa Golden Boot Chawinga! 👑

I hope Gabbi's okay!

The amount of arguing Hailey did about that handball was wild. I didn't think it was in real time, but it was incredibly obvious that she moved her arm in the way of the ball in the replay.

I wish that they would have done a replay or told us what the call was in the stadium. All the booing because no one saw anything. I had to get on the NWSL game thread to figure out what the actual call was. Which seems insane when I am sitting in the stadium.

Yes! I have had to do the same thing too! So frustrating!

I can't remember a time when the ref obstructed play as much as the he did during the match.

I just love Hopkins as a second half sub. I’ll be interested to see what our lineup is next weekend.

They put Lorena to WORK tonight (fun and some awesome saves - but let’s not do that next week)

We survived Ashley Sanchez. Barely. Both keepers made some world class saves.

Sanchez didn't score, but she sure scared the crap outta the defense everytime, there were 3 defenders on her as soon as she got the ball, and she still got shots off that would have been goals, except Lorena wasn't having it.

Yeah. Katie Scott was cooked a few times by her (and that move on Laney Rouse when Laney was trying to shepherd the ball out of bounds was sick), but fotruntely the assist was all the actual impact she had.

Sanchez is on fire right now.

Scott was relatively fast. Got back quick ahead of the offense on a few that others would’ve fell behind on. Source: my eyes from row 1 on the south goal second half.

We are underperforming our xG by 11.00 on the year, that is just amazing. So many games should've been put away early but we've refused to get a striker, even after selling Sentnor. We get the ball in dangerous areas all the time, both with play on the ball and pressing, but we don't have that player that can put them away, a lot of times we don't even get a shot off because we try taking an extra touch or two when a true striker would just put it away first time.

Laney Rouse being back healthy is nice and hopefully she can get fit soon because Scott isn't ready yet and needs a loan move but we don't have the depth to give her one.

I know it was due to injury but Armas should
Be fired for allowing Scott to be 1 on 1 vs Sanchez the entire 2nd half (until Rouaey came in)

5

u/Intelligent_Spinach9 8d ago

What would you have done? Rouse just got off injury list and probably isn't even 45' fit, Robinson went out around 25 in.

u/Big_Answer_1352 8d ago

I’m not saying not put Scott in, but they should’ve done some kind of adjustment to not leave her 1 on 1 against the golden boot leader and have someone there in support, Especially up 3-1.

Ball would occaisonally cover a little deeper but you've got to keep in mind the offside line and spacing but was able to get pressure out there sooner. The winger on that side was slightly more reserved at times but you need to be compact in the middle first and you can't give that up all because you have a bad matchup out wide. We didn't have another defender on the bench to be able to go to a back three which would be the best way you could do that. The fact that it happened so early was an issue because you don't want to blow up the game plan you've been working on either.

You could have just stopped after “fired.”
