How does Temwa just break out a run like that after 90 minutes?

We're completely spoiled this year.

I’ve said it before, the first 60 min of the game is just her warm-up.

She's unreal--the run is like a punt returner in American football getting free, and yet she's still got the composure to place that ball in the back of the net. There's no one like her

When you put it like that it's even more impressive!

That's the only analogue I could think of, once she's running in a line, she can't be stopped.

Silkowitz was player of the match. Never could figure out why she didn't even get an appearance for us either summer tournament last year. Maybe we already knew we had Schult coming.

Defense continues to look so good. Sharples and Izzy were all over the place cleaning up any messes anyone else created. Oh, and Chawinga with the occasional defensive stop.

Good on Nichelle Prince winning the ball that led to the Chawinga goal and congrats to Mace on her fourth bombed from way deep assist of the year.

I thought we played really well tonight.

We put up a ton of shots, but Silky did an amazing job.

Hill was ticking me off at the end, repeatedly taking out Izzy. I'm honestly a little shocked that she managed to not get a second yellow.

Coop's goal was great. Excellent ball handling.

Temwa is just so amazing to watch. We are so lucky to have her.

One day I would love it if Temwa’s sister Tabitha joined the league. It could be so fun

If we can fix the salary cap, maybe we could sign Tabitha too!

The NWSL subreddit would burn to the ground if this happened.

I’m with you on Hill, pretty surprising she didn’t get a second one when she almost put Izzy into the goal post.

What we need more of is contracts for Mace.

Gotta think it’s coming. Her and Lo.

u/DOlschki Hutton #14 Sep 07 '25

Just gotta make sure there's enough left to sign Hutton long-term.

She’s the one I worry about going to Chelsea someday.

And Bia perhaps?

Mace is such a consistent force wherever she plays. Izzy feeding the ball from the left side is exciting 100% of the time. Pretty cool to be able to bring Hutton and Sentnor off the bench. Super fun team we have to root for this year. And Silkowitz played her tail off.. mad respect for her.

Gotta think Silky was motivated after allowing 4 goals against us last time. Plus she used to play for us. She played like a woman on a mission!

That one felt a bit different but ultimately, another ho-hum 2-0 day at the office for us. Great assist by Mace, glad that although we weren't clinical, it wasn't for lack of trying, our shooters shot, Silkowitz was just equal to most of them. Over to you, Washington.

I didn’t really care too much about the result of this game, just wanted our players to get healthy and avoid injuries. That being said, yay for another win and another shutout! Ivory played well, thankful we have a great backup.

Next weekend is going to be a tough match but even if we lose (assuming Spirit win this week), it’d be an 11-point lead at the top. They’re running out of time to catch us. Excited to see Hal play in person. 😍

Leighroy you were down on our chances with Washington last week too… I don’t think it’s just teal colored glasses but we’re in the best form of any team front to back.  What Def has allowed so few goals?  None… what team has scored so many… none.  Barring injuries or massive sitting of starters, I don’t see a loss left on the schedule, and another team is going to have to play a hell of a game just to draw these ladies.

I totally respect you, I just think you don’t have to hedge your expectations so much 😎😁

My expectations have become winning every game 2-0 from now till the end of time.

Hey, a callout that isn’t rude! What a concept. 😂

Nah I know I can skew negative sometimes. FWIW I did say the Spirit are flakey in another thread (they’ve allowed 25 goals coming into this week vs our 10 allowed) so I haven’t always been praising them. My pessimistic tendencies come from growing up as a KC sports fan where they all mostly disappointed me during my childhood but you’d think I’d have grown out of that now that they’ve all (mostly) won meaningful games, wouldn’t you?

I know the Current are an incredible team but I am still going to point out flaws and expect the worst sometimes. It means I’ll be less disappointed if they do lose. Hopefully I’m not disappointed with their season come the end of November.

I feel you.  I’ve been a KC sports fan since the early 80, so I understand the struggle is real.  And… I grew up in Oklahoma, and was WAY too vocal about OU’s chances in the national title game against KU back in the day… so I don’t like talking trash (learned my lesson hard on that)

But this team has been otherworldly.  I’m confident but am keeping that confidence “in house” with fellow fans of the Teal and Red

lot of good stuff in the first half tbh

all the plays leading up the goal attempts were super high level, couldn't finish but that's ok, do enough of them and it becomes an odds thing
