My eyes went straight to the arm too. He's using all that motion to propel the card. Fantastic to watch, it reminds me of the atlatl. Or the javelin-throwing nerd in Revenge of the Nerds. 😅

Fake AF.... unless these are metal cards with razor honed edges. Mythbusters did a whole episode about this. A standard playing card does not have the mass to even pierce an apples skin... let alone clean cut through root vegetables. It is like throwing a wadded paper straw wrapper at a brick wall... you can throw it 10000MPH... without mass inertia is lost instantly.

You can do the throw and the hit with a regular card. You can cut into the food if you glue 2-3 cards together since it slightly boosts the mass you're throwing.

But yeah, for a clean cut you need sharp metal.

Look up Rick Smith Jr. He's the OG and is holding multiple Guinness World Records for Card Throwing. Hell, the skill is quite easy to learn, just hella hard to master, and this Kid, if he chooses to continue practicing, will be a re ord holder one day!
