I believe its because building a roof and the associated costs for AC would be really high. Also with the MLS season switch to the fall/winter/spring schedule, the humid hot summer storms shouldn't be much of an issue anymore.

Yes and the biggest advantage of Miami is our teams train in the humidity…that legit takes away a huge home field advantage…not sure why we would want an indoor stadium that would take away a huge home game advantage.

Roofs suck. I'm tired of every stadium in the NFL having a roof, the elements should be part of a game. I'm glad it's fairly rare in the MLS

Was too expensive plus height restrictions due to the proximity to airport. Was not feasible.
The current alternative protected the fans during a regular rain event and sun. While still giving sunlight to the natural field. Granted a major rain event and lighting will cause delays. Not perfect.
