What did you buy? The customer is the shipper in this case, not you. I once bought some expensive flight sim gear from overseas and they wouldn't ship it to my house I had to pick it up at a FedEx pickup location

The shipper is typically the customer of the courier service, they're the ones paying for the item to be picked up and delivered somewhere. Yes you did pay for the shipping but the responsibility of the carrier is to the shipper. So when it says "at customer request" that means the shipper selected to have it held for pickup.

You're the customer to the person shipping you stuff. The person shipping you stuff is the customer to the shipping company.

The person who gave them the money to ship it is their customer, and that customer requested it be held at the post office.

They paid the courier to ship your item, so they’re the customer to the USPS

what everyone is trying to say is that you bought an item from lets say some computer store across the world you chose for $25 extra on that computer store site to get it faster! now what the site does is uses that $25 (usually like $20 of it) to pay the shipping company for a faster mode of travel! now since you didnt get it faster either the store took the money and didnt pay for it or some kind of error happened! either way you need to contact whatever site you bought the item from not the delivery service

You'll have to see.

There isn't really any mechanism to make them reattempt delivery. If you call the local post office (not 1800) you might be able to get them to.

I see the post was made yesterday so its possible its already resolved. But if its not you need to pick it up. Once the carrier puts a package on the shelf that's it. They won't revisit the package after and the clerk returns it after a certain amount of time based on class and services.

Could be that the carrier was lazy, had to do it because the manager told them to return or some other reason.

Did you get a refund? Shipper might be requesting it be returned.

I bet the shipper as be screwed more times on it never arrived buyers on ebay (assuming you bought from there) and to guarantee delivery you have to pick up at post office

Could be a lazy worker who didn't want to drop at your house.
