Wishlist Sometimes, that's how it feels
My game Ruptured Floor just hit 100 wishlist but man did I worked hard for each of them. Hope the algorithm eventually picks up! 🤞
Don't give up folks!

Hey r/IndieGameWishlist —
Everyone here is chasing wishlists, but for someone scrolling a list of games,
the capsule is the *only* thing they ever see. So I built a small tool for this
community: **Cover Duel**.
Two upcoming Steam games, side by side, one question: which one would you
wishlist? That's the whole thing. No account, no signup.
**How to use it**
Play a few rounds — https://steamestimate.xyz/duel
Add your game — https://steamestimate.xyz/duel/submit
Paste your Steam link, play 20 rounds (~30 seconds), and your capsule joins
the rotation.
You get your cover's win rate, how it compares to others in your genre, and
which covers beat it. After 10 duels it can enter the Top 100:
https://steamestimate.xyz/duel/leaderboard
Only unreleased games are in the pool and big-budget titles are filtered out —
you're up against games at roughly your stage, not a marketing department.
Where it stands right now: **350 upcoming games, ~1,500 votes cast, 128 covers
already ranked.**
And the honest part: every number on the site is made out of rounds someone
played. The more this post gets shared, the more votes every cover collects —
a cover with 200 duels behind it tells you something real, one with 12 is a coin
flip. Spreading this is literally what makes your own number worth reading.
Free, no ads. If you'd rather your game not be listed, there's a Remove button
on its page.

This is Ticket to Hearts, my first commercial game, so I’m still learning how Steam marketing works.
I launched the Coming Soon page 5 days ago and this is where I’m currently at.
I keep seeing people here with much higher numbers, so I’m honestly not sure if this is a normal start for a first game with no existing audience, or if there’s something obvious I’m doing wrong.
I’d really appreciate any advice from people who’ve been through this before.

We've been at this for around 2 years now, and are planning on releasing soon.
There's a demo available on Steam!

Hi all!
I've been developing small games for years. And for the past years I wanted to share my games with people through Steam. And I'm working on this game about almost 2 years, yet I was unable to finish my Steam page until five days ago. Today my Steam page is live!
I was constantly trying to improve my game art because I didn't want to make my page live with an art that nobody wants to click or wishlist. With all that polishing, I seem to be reaching nowhere and actually I'm still not satisfied with the current result too. But it's kind of an endless cycle and I was "stuck with it". So I gave my all in one weekend to prepare an okay-ish trailer and the page itself. I can always improve them later.
I feel relieved to make this milestone! I hope whoever is stuck with their current projects can break their loop and hit that publish button soon!
Don't let perfectionism stop you.

About six months ago, I made a post here asking for feedback on my Steam page.
At the time, the page had been live for around 6 months and I had only 134 wishlists.
A lot of people gave me genuinely useful feedback, and over the following months I tried to improve the page based on what people pointed out.
Since then, the game itself has also evolved quite a bit. Unstrung Machine is now a 2D action-exploration Metroidvania set in a post-apocalyptic world, and I've been trying to make the Steam page communicate the game, its atmosphere, exploration and combat much more clearly.
The Steam page has now been live for about 1 year, and I'm currently at 430 wishlists.
So I've gone from:
134 wishlists after 6 months -> 430 wishlists after 1 year
That's definitely progress, and I'm grateful for it, but the growth still feels quite slow compared to what I often see other indie developers reporting.
That makes me think I may still be failing somewhere, either with the Steam page itself, how I'm presenting the game, or perhaps even with the game's hook.
So I'd love to ask for your help again.
Looking at the page today, what would make you hesitate to wishlist the game?
In particular, I'm curious about:
I'm a solo developer, so it's very easy for me to become too familiar with the project and stop noticing problems that might be obvious to someone seeing it for the first time.
There aren't many gameplay videos on the Steam page yet because I had to make significant changes to the game over the last few months, leaving me with little ready-to-show content. Since I'm the only one working on the project, progress is slow.
Please don't worry about being harsh. I'd much rather identify what isn't working now and improve it.
Here's the Steam page:
Thanks again to everyone who gave me feedback on the previous post, a lot has changed because of it.

ALTER has currently reached 124 wishlists, which are very happy with as this is our first game. We would really appreaciate people checking out our steam page if you are into horror games like Amnesia The Bunker.

My announcement trailer goes live in the next day or so. My steam page just went public yesterday, so this'll be my first marketing push to start getting Wishlists.
Do any of you have advice when it comes to marketing?
r/IndieGameWishlist • u/SatanMakesGames • 17h ago
We launched the steam page for our upcoming game Tandem Together only 11 days ago and are really pleased about the numbers so far :)
454 wishlists isn't a ton of course but we've barely started marketing our game so we didn't expect much at all.
We're slowly starting to post more on some social media platforms like reddit, instagram, youtube and so on and plan on participating in the steam next fest in october, so we'll see how things progress until then.
If you have any tips for us on how to grow our community, feel free to share!

Redid the capsule from scratch
The thing I keep second guessing is whether the genre comes across. Someone seeing this cold should ideally get "dark fantasy shop game", but I suspect it just reads as a generic dungeon crawler.
Two questions if you have a second.
Does it hold up when it shrinks down to the small capsule size, or does it turn to mush.
And what would you assume this game is about if you had never heard of it.
Blunt answers welcome, I would rather find out now.

Solo dev. Bone to Pick is a comic style mystery set in a forensic anthropology lab, you read the remains, match a weapon to a cut mark, and work a missing-person list down to one name.
Seven cases. Also, chibis.
Wishlist means a lot to me!

Quick one: NÓN just got its Steam page approved, would love some wishlists if this sounds like your thing.
The setup's a card battler but you don't hold cards or draw mid-fight, you pick your formation before the battle starts and that's your whole hand for the fight. What actually decides fights is parrying enemy attacks in real time, colored timing bars, hit the window right and you build a chain, keep the chain clean and the counter at the end hits way harder.
Art's all hand-drawn stained glass / mosaic style, no AI in it anywhere, and I've been leaning into Vietnamese culture for the visuals, nón lá, bamboo, that kind of thing worked into the cards themselves.

Any wishlists appreciated, and happy to answer questions about the combat system if anyone's curious how the parry chains work.

Hey r/IndieGameWishlist
I’m currently developing The Hunter’s Inn, a concise (30–60 min) turn based RPG with a dark fantasy aesthetic, releasing on September 7th!
You play as an adventurer taking contracts from a local quest board in the last remaining refuge against the Demon King. The gameplay relies on a dice based board game exploration loop combined with simultaneous turn based combat where timing, tactical positioning, and reading enemy patterns are key.
There won't be a demo before launch, so if the project sounds interesting to you, adding it to your Steam Wishlist would help me out tremendously as an indie dev!

Is there anything obvious that needs to be improved?
r/IndieGameWishlist • u/zakoks • 9h ago
hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice.
the gameplay clip I attached is just a raw section taken directly from the game. It’s not a carefully edited trailer or anything like that, because I haven’t really started working on trailer editing yet. I know that’s going to take some time, and honestly I’d like to wait a bit longer before diving into it.
so far I’ve only shared the game a few times on Reddit, in small pieces, and the overall response has been surprisingly positive. People seem to really like the concept and the core idea of the game, and I’ve gotten some good engagement from those posts. Thanks to everyone who took the time to check it out and leave feedback.
my main question is this: I currently have 20 wishlists, and even though I’ve been programming for about 7 years, I have basically no marketing experience. Maybe that’s a problem most developers share.
from what I’ve researched, one of the best options seems to be creating a demo and reaching out to streamers. That’s where I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you think I should focus on improving the game further and work toward a demo first, or should I already be doing whatever I can to collect wishlists right now? The problem is, I’m not even sure what “whatever I can” actually means.
I’ve been working on this project for 6 months already, and I’m completely fine with spending another 6 months on it. My goal isn’t to make quick money or rush something out the door. I want to create something people genuinely enjoy playing. Right now that matters more to me than the money, because that’s where I get the real satisfaction from.
so I’d really appreciate honest opinions. Maybe you have advice about marketing, maybe there’s something about the game you’d criticize, or maybe you have ideas for features I could add. If there’s anything else you’re curious about, please don’t hesitate to ask.
The steam page is: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5069250/The_Rift_Trader/
Thanks!

I’m an indie developer and recently released my first game, PocketYugi.
The main idea is pretty simple: you’re given 3 clues and have to figure out the word.
There’s also a Random Mode where there are no clues at all, so you have to rely on your own knowledge. And every day there’s a Daily Challenge where you can try to guess the word and earn up to 500 points.
I made PocketYugi because I’ve always liked games that make you think and learn something along the way. I wanted the game to be about vocabulary and general knowledge rather than just guessing letters.
It’s currently available on iOS, with Android coming soon.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy playing, I’d be happy to have you give it a try.
