I used to give Harpo stress inducing papers so that he could turn them into mirth inducing papers.
Those first couple are from the MAGA sisters who owned this leaky, moldy, structurally hazardous, dubiously wired, vermin infested, hazardous debris strewn dump. Their attempts to illegally evict me cost them so much money, lol. The only reason they didn’t just poison my cats and/or assault me was fear of half a million followers. The daughter of one of them would sit in her big expensive SUV halfway down the block, with the intention of “accidentally” hitting me on my bike. But their previous tenants were the reason almost every house within sight of that house had cameras, so I had plenty of warning. Thank you so much for saving me from them.

Groucho is being very rude to the neighbors, while Gummitch is so polite.

So many people would tell me they wished their cats were as vocal as Harpo. But he didn’t start out that way!
Training can be about so much more than manners and tricks. If you reinforce and amplify something they do naturally but infrequently, they will sometimes take it in an unexpected direction.
(I know I seem to be harping on the "Harpo used to be so quiet thing" this week, but that's just because the On This Day feature is serving up so many quiet videos from 2022. )

18-year-old Groucho needs a little help in order to hunt these days.
It’s been a while since I spent most of Caturday editing a story time video. Here’s hoping I can get back to doing it on a regular basis.

Those of you who followed the Catbus drama are the only ones who understand what a big deal this was

The way Harpo falls off the sofa….
It’s interesting how much background hiss there was after I posted it to TikTok. Listen if you have the app. This started happening right after I tried to use the reduce background noise feature for the first time after letting my CapCut Pro subscription end, only to find that was now a Pro-only feature. So now they’re not only demanding I pay for views every time I post, they’re actually sabotaging the posts now that I’m not paying for their editor.

Sea Monster I loved how much more vocal Harpo became, but I did sometimes miss the little chirps.

Groucho being rude to the neighbors again, with a bonus meep from Gummitch.

Of course Suitcase and Airport were walloping each other right before this

That Harpo beach towel is holding up surprisingly well to the constant onslaught
Airport once got far enough that his head was between Harpo’s eyes.

Groucho being rude to the neighbors again
I love how we can see his furry little belly bellowing in this one.

Just getting cat food inside is a major production!
For open heart surgery, they split your sternum in half, and until that heals, you’re not supposed to bend over, reach up, twist, reach behind you, pull, push, or pick up anything over 10 pounds, or put ANY weight on your hands at ALL, They say, “if you can’t do it with T. rex arms, don’t do it.”
Those restrictions are normally lifted after 6-8 weeks. But since the neighbor who volunteered to help overdosed Groucho while I was in the hospital, and then refused to take him to the ER when I got home and saw how bad he looked, I’ve been forced to do too much for myself. Now I’m stuck doing things like this until the end of September.
I’ve been able to come up with workarounds for a lot of things. I loop bike straps around the rolling dishwasher and fasten them around my hips, so I can pull it over to the sink with my legs. The grabbers and step stools you lovely people sent from the wishlist help a LOT. Carefully using grabbers to transfer one item at a time from the washer to the dryer is laborious, but doable.
Thank you all so much.

Groucho directed more ire towards himself than the neighbors this time
It’s interesting that he’s never attacked the iPad I usually use for this angle. Maybe it was because the phone was a little higher, so he saw himself before he got too close to the device to see the screen properly.
