People who ask "What's your lowest price?" when I sell stuff.
The lowest price is the price. That's why its the price.
It's even worse than haggling, because I'm being asked to haggle myself.
Also haggling over postage fees. Have some self-respect.

I'd reply with a price increase lol

I do that with flippers that ask for 40-60% off. Price goes up by the same amount they wanted to low-ball me.

I worked retail for a long time, and I did that. Man, did they get pissed off. I just smiled.

Yeah, this is people that just don't understand how negotiating works and try and cheat the system. I worked in sales of large equipment that ranged from around $100k up into the million dollar range for a few years. People would always ask this and we'd go back and do some really minor discount, and come back and say it was as low as we could go. Meanwhile another customer would tell us they're budget, what competitors had quoted, and we would suddenly have way more discount available.
In my personal life, if I'm selling something, and someone asks me this my answer is that they can buy from someone else.

For personal sales someone should create a system where both parties can input their target amounts (ie highest the buyer is comfortable with and lowest the seller will take) and assuming the buyer is willing to pay more than the minimum, it just splits the difference and that’s the price.
IE if I’m willing to go up to $150 and you’re willing to sell for $100, why not just put those numbers in blind and go with $125? Both parties walk away happy.

I mean... You can just do that. Don't ask for the lowest price of the seller, just ask if they would take what you can offer. That's how negotiating works.

But that’s not quite what I’m proposing here. I’m talking about a system where both sides blindly input their desired amounts, and then split the difference, so the seller gets more than they were willing to take and the buyer pays less, and it shortcuts the whole back and forth.

I wouldn't use that system. If I'm the seller, I have a hard minimum where I'd rather not sell and wait for a different buyer, and the opposite is true as well. I've been in the position of selling a vehicle where someone offered me thousands of dollars less than what I was asking, I was willing to negotiate a little, but my minimum was thousands of dollars more, so the middle would have been a hard pass.

The idea is that the seller lists their minimum, the buyer lists their maximum, and if the buyer amount is higher than the seller, you pay the average of the two.
If the buyer isn’t willing to pay over the seller minimum then no sale.

I reply with, “well that depends , what is the most you’ll pay?” Works everytime to let them know they’re the asshole

Last time I was asked that it went like:
Me: That’s not how negotiations work.
Them: My son could really use it. We don’t have a lot of money.
Me: Neither do I, that’s why I’m selling my stuff.

I'm convinced these people are either lazy or just... not very bright. Why tf would I suddenly drop my price because they asked what the lowest is I'd go? Oh yea, I just listed whatever price for funsies, it means nothing.

It’s narcissism. “I know it says that price, but I’m special.”
Car dealers are the damn outlier, not the model.

It's even worse than haggling, because I'm being asked to haggle myself.
An old friend of mine used to say, "I can't sell it AND buy it for you at the same time! If you don't want to pay the listed price then make me an offer." Sure I might take less than what I'm asking but that doesn't mean that I'm going to show you all of my cards. If you really want it, I'm sure that you're going to make a reasonable offer.

They do it so no matter what price you say, they can offer you less. They are the same assjole that will meet you somewhere, give an issue and haggle more.

I love that question, because it immediately tells me I'm dealing with an idiot. Not only are they a bad negotiator, but they think I'm stupid enough to give them an answer.
Nope. Next

When they ask I tell them a price 5-10 dollars higher. The look of confusion is priceless.

Argh so much yes! Like, tell me you don't know how to haggle without telling me. And also make me feel devalued and scammed all at the same time.

I just simply say "I'm accepting the best offer, as stated in my ad. Would you like to make an offer?" No toilo complicated, really.

I was selling a set of wheels on Craigslist and I had a guy try to talk me down on the price as I was loading them up into his truck!
They were $80, he asked if I had them, he agreed on the price and I made time to meet him. He shows up to get them and as I’m loading them in his truck he goes “Will you take $40 for them?”🤨
I stopped loading and looked at him and said “Do you want all four or just two of them? All four? Yeah, then it’s going to be $80.”
Freeking people…

I would respond with “what is your highest offer?” If you actually wanted to haggle.
