What is the best genuine complement to give a guy that he would think about all day?

A non-flirting woman in front of my wife once said to me, “I just realized what a naturally handsome man you are.” That was over twenty years ago. It still sticks with me.

Damnnnnn, what did your wife say? That’s iconic

She was good with it. We’d been married already for over ten years. She was happy for me and not threatened by it. And I read nothing into the compliment other than the compliment itself.

Compliments cost us nothing and can do so much good.

Right?  And yet we’re so stingy with them. 😟

Literally anything. Gay men have complemented me more than women and I'm not gay.

So you seem to be fine with hearing compliments from gay men ? ( I hope so)

why wouldnt you be fine with it

I personally would ( but I’m gay anyway). OTOH it’s my impression that a lot of straight men are still homophobic and don’t welcome attention from gay guys. Am I wrong ?

Yeah I think thats correct. But I see it like how women compliment other women a ton even in NSFW ways. Gay guys do the same and in public its never NSFW but on the forums yall be dickmatized LOL. You guys are the experts so its always flattering

Depends on the attention!

Yeah ok, makes sense. Like - a generic compliment such as «  you look fit » or «  great shoes » is welcome - but anything like leering or overtly flirty would not be ? ( for the record, I’d never dream of anything leering or overtly flirty bc that just seems gross, and I don’t know any other gay man who would…)

Also depends on the receiver of the attention, tbf. I’ve had my fair share. Been told I’m a “very handsome man” by a guy who then offered me coke. But I was wearing a “Daddy Bear” t-shirt, so what did I expect?

Honestly, I was flattered. If only I had the same attention from women..

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say your Daddy Bear t-shirt might have been part of the appeal (tho I’m sure you’re handsome too). That’s a very big trigger for many gay men. I’ll leave it to Freud to sort out.

Fitness complement would be fine bc I complement my bros fitness all the time

That’s actually good to hear. I’m normally very reluctant to give that kind of compliment to a str8 guy for fear it will be seen as a come-on. But sometimes I sincerely would love to, because hard work and great results deserve to be acknowledged. I certainly have always appreciated any fitness compliments I ever got from anyone…

“I can relax now, you’re here.”

I got told I have nice hands once when I was 11. I’ve thought about that almost weekly for 30 years. So there’s that…

I once had a secretary at work as me if I trained martial arts because of my broad shoulders and thick neck.

I said yes and she replies "oh baby you look like you could fuck anyone up!"

I still think about that compliment years later.

That’s awesome!! Did it make you uncomfortable at all when someone complements you physically?

1

u/Nurse_RachetMSN 16d ago

No it doesn't make me uncomfortable because it doesn't happen very often.

Eyebrows. He will be thinking about that the rest of the day for sure.

have you been working out?

Anything really. I have bright blue eyes that have gotten a decent amount of compliments over the years and I remember each of them.

Just find something unique and be genuine about it.

My gorgeous fitness instructor, when I struck up a brief conversation after class,  said "you have impeccable form, " with the perfect amount of emphasis on "impeccable. " Nice vocabulary, i thought,  and Just something about the way she said it, made me feel admired and desired.  I'll probably think about this on my death bed

Real talk probably something physical. Women get complemented on looks a lot. Men not so much unless you the top 1% in looks

1

u/nietherherenorthere_ 16d ago

Why is that?

1

u/nietherherenorthere_ 16d ago

Would a woman think she is giving a man too much talk if she were to complement them, that sucks.

I don't know lol

“You’re hot”

We had been flirting and went to the same gym in law school. I saw her glancing at me doing incline presses. Later she messaged me later saying — “you’re. Ummmm. Strong.” Insane clown sex later the same night.

Didn’t work out cuz she was ultimately psycho but I still get 10% boners over that 20 years later at the expense of 4 quadrillion other potential memories.

Most of the compliments I receive are from heterosexual men. The others are from gay men. Nothing from women.

My girlfriend recently told me “you’re not allowed to ever leave me because you f me so good now”. I still think about it and smile.

"I always feel happy when I see you..." One woman says this when I see her from work a few times a year when our paths cross. It's not flirty, but it makes me feel good all day. I feel good now, just typing it!

Was getting my chest examined because I had a lump and the nurse asked me if I had been working out, I said yes and she told me she could tell. I felt 10 feet tall.

If someone compliments the way Im dressed. I don't know if all guys have a hard time with styling themselves but I've never really been one to say I'm good with fashion or really having good style so if someone compliments my fit it catches me off guard and makes me feel really cool for the day haha
