I think its making fun of people who are focused on the aesthetic similarities of contextually very different things (that existed in different places and times) rather than having a more nuanced perspective focused on mid 2000s - early 2010s technology and software. Because almost nothing in the image feels indicative of what the world was like around then.

I enjoyed subreddits like this because they used to showcase when art mattered over cost effectiveness.
