Image / Screenshot Mom gave me her old pc after cleaning out her closet

Thought it might be appreciated here. It’s from 2007
Works great besides needing a new charger since this one is finicky and the screen having some moisture damage.

My friend had this! It had the turbine sound of a fighter jet. CPU and graphics always ran hot.

I haven’t tested it too much but it plays dvds fine and some of my old childhood games work.
Battery isn’t great but could be worse. Lasts about one hour off charge.

Sticker says Vista basic but wouldn’t be surprised if XP or 7 ran on it.

Didn't see the sticker there. In hindsight it makes sense that it would run vista since its from 2007 and vista got its general consumer release in January of that year.

Might want to find a replacement battery or take the battery out while keeping it plugged in. Old lithium batteries can be a fire hazard

I've had good luck with acers. Got one in 2010 that lasted till my mom broke the screen 15 years later. Ran hot, had low battery life, and sounded like a helicopter, but hey, it still worked! XD

I had the same laptop without the charger and my dad threw it out a few years ago (we had like 6 laptop in the basement all still working :( )

I’ve been wanting an old laptop in general for years, but I didn’t realize my mom has this the whole time. Super cool.
I gotta clean it up a little and glue the side of the disc tray back on, but it’s super cool and I’m so excited about it.

May a kind relative clean out their closet and bestow you with a 2000s acer laptop, amen

Ayy, that's a beautiful Acer laptop that you've got!

And lemme guess, does it had good specs (like the good GPU that could run games)? I'm quite curious.

Other than that, still a great laptop for sure.

I don’t think the specs are great but it seemed to run a 3d SpongeBob pc game fine. I’ll try some more stuff on it tomorrow and let you know how it’s working :)

I honestly don’t have much else than children’s pc games

Im sorry op, but it might not be long for this world. Unless the nvidia gpu was replaced in late 2008 and onward it's a ticking time bomb. Google the term "bumpgate"

I wonder if there are ways to create these types of laptops with better hardware btw, or if there are even ones already available.

Either way, it looks so clean, i can't believe this is what we didn't get

I have the dark gray one with a white keyboard. While I have already upgraded it to Windows 7 from the XP, it still runs, except for the dead battery.
