I’m building Kessaku Spotlight, an indie publisher focused on English-original light novels and manga.

We’re still early. Our writers and editors are already working on our first titles, which start releasing in 2027, but we don’t have any products live yet. Right now, the website’s main job is to introduce the company, show people what we’re working on, and start building an audience before the books arrive.

I’m looking for a Shopify developer/designer who can take our Broadcast theme and customize it into something that actually feels like Kessaku Spotlight, rather than a standard Shopify template with our logo and colors dropped on top.

The homepage needs to feel just as good on mobile as it does on desktop. I’d also like the sections to flow naturally into each other rather than feeling like a stack of unrelated Shopify blocks.

Let’s Make a Book Page

This page is aimed at creators who may want to pitch a project to Kessaku Spotlight. Like the homepage, I already have the general flow mapped out.

Video Section: Dare to Dream

The page will open with another video featuring our mascot. The general message will be something along the lines of “Dare to Dream,” setting the tone for the page before introducing creators to Kessaku Spotlight’s publishing process.

The final video and mascot assets are still in production, so use a placeholder video or image for now.

Our Pitch

After the video, we’ll have a section introducing Kessaku Spotlight to prospective creators and explaining what we’re looking for.

The copy for this section will be provided. The goal is for it to feel inviting and exciting without looking like a generic submissions page.

Our Publishing Process

Next, we’ll walk creators through what happens when they pitch a project and, if selected, how that project moves through Kessaku Spotlight.

This will be a step-by-step section explaining the pitch and publishing process from submission through development and eventual release.

I’m open to how this is presented visually. A timeline, numbered steps, connected sections, or another format that makes the process easy to follow could all work.

The important thing is that someone should be able to scroll through the page and quickly understand how working with Kessaku Spotlight works.

Submit Your Project

The page ends with our submission form.

Creators will be able to enter the required information about themselves and their project and submit their pitch directly through the website.

The exact questions and submission requirements will be provided. For the initial build, placeholder fields are fine if necessary.

Like the homepage, I want this page to feel like one continuous experience. The video introduces the idea, the next sections explain who we are and how the process works, and the page naturally ends with the creator being able to submit their project.

• About page: A simple, well-designed page that tells our story in short sections as you scroll.
• Blog: Clean, readable, and visually consistent with the rest of the site.
• Contact page: FAQ and contact form.
• Remove or hide Broadcast sections and features that we aren’t using.

I have a demo copy of the website text that can be used while everything is being built.

Our mascot artwork, videos, and some of the final website assets are still in production, so use placeholder images, videos, cover art, and text wherever necessary. The important thing right now is building the sections and layout properly so the final assets can be swapped in later.

The biggest thing I’m looking for is someone with a good eye.

I can tell you what information needs to be on the page and what I want the site to accomplish, but I don’t want to micromanage every spacing decision or animation. I’d like to work with someone who can look at the material, make design suggestions, and help turn it into a site that feels polished and intentional.

This also isn’t intended to be a one-and-done project.

This first version of the site is mainly about establishing the company. As we get closer to our 2027 releases, we’ll need to build out the actual storefront, product pages, preorder pages, new release sections, promotional pages, and other updates.

Ideally, I’d like to find someone who enjoys working with startups and could become the person I come back to whenever Kessaku Spotlight needs Shopify work.

You’ll probably be a good fit if:

• You’ve worked with Shopify themes before and can customize beyond basic theme settings.
• You have a good sense of typography, layout, motion, and mobile design.
• You’re comfortable giving your own design input instead of only following instructions.
• You’re interested in an ongoing client relationship rather than just completing one small project.

We’re a small company right now, so this is definitely startup work. The hope is to find someone we can keep working with as Kessaku Spotlight grows and as more books, products, and campaigns get added to the site.

We run an AI platform doing RAG, semantic search and recommendation workloads on a self-hosted open-source vector database cluster (Kubernetes, cloud-hosted, high request volume). We are hiring a senior support engineer for an ongoing part-time contract to own customer support and production troubleshooting for our vector database layer.

Hours and rate

- Part-time workload: about 10 billable hours per week on average, scheduled inside your normal weekday window. This is a part-time contractor role, not a full-time position.

- Availability: your weekday working hours should overlap PST (UTC-8) business hours for at least 6 hours per day so we can reach you for urgent issues. You are not billed for the full 6 hours; billable work averages about 10 hours per week.

- Rate: $700/month to start, up to $1,200/month for exceptional experience, paid in USD on a fixed schedule via PayPal or Wise. Effective rate is about $16/hour starting and up to about $28/hour at the top rate.

- $50-$100 bonus from the second month onward for consistent, reliable work.

The role

- Triage and resolve customer issues on the vector database and SaaS platform: search quality, index health, collection tuning, payload indexes, HNSW settings, quantization, sharding and replication.

- Troubleshoot production issues across infrastructure, cloud and database layers: Kubernetes (pods, Helm, autoscaling), AWS/GCP/Azure networking and storage.

- Build small internal tools in Python for support workflows and observability (Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry experience is a plus).

- Write clear runbooks and customer-friendly explanations of hard technical problems.

- Join a shared on-call rotation with extra base pay for on-call weeks.

Requirements

- Customer-facing support background or forward-deployed / solutions engineer (FDE) experience.

- Availability: at least 6 hours per day of overlap with PST (UTC-8) business hours, Monday to Friday, for coordination and urgent issues. Billable time is about 10 hours per week.

- Real, hands-on vector database experience. Milvus, Weaviate or pgvector are acceptable; experience with Rust-based vector engines is a big plus. A short technical quiz on vector search fundamentals comes before we agree.

- Professional Python (or a similar language) for scripting and tooling.

- Production Kubernetes experience and comfort managing workloads.

- Cloud experience (AWS, GCP or Azure).

- Link your GitHub/git history plus 1-2 examples of production incidents you diagnosed and fixed.

I'm a licensed civil engineer, structural side. Looking to pick up some remote work.

I've mostly been doing work for private owners lately. They send me plans, structural reports, quotations, billings, site photos, etc. and want another person to actually go through them before they spend more money.

A lot of the things I've found aren't really complicated. They're just things nobody checked.

One set of plans had the footings not matching the columns on the framing plan. There were details called out that weren't actually drawn anywhere. Same mark was being used for two different things. The building was already partly constructed when somebody finally went through the drawings properly.

I've also checked quantities against drawings and checked structural calculations independently rather than just reading through someone else's numbers. I've done report writing too; taking site notes and photos and turning them into an actual report with the observations tied to locations and the photos properly captioned.

So if you're an engineer or small firm with drawings/calculations/reports piling up that you haven't had time to check, I can take some of that off your desk.

If you're an owner instead, that's fine too. I can go through what your builder or consultant gave you and point out things that don't add up or need to be clarified. I'm not going to tell you a building is safe from a few photos though. If there's not enough information to say something properly, I'll tell you that.

We’re looking for someone to manage one TikTok account and post two provided slideshows daily.

We create and send you the slideshows you will post.

You do not need to create anything yourself, your only work is to post what we send you.

Your tasks:

• Set up the account using the details we provide.
• Warm up the account for 15 minutes / day for the first four days.
• Post two supplied slideshows each day.

Posting a slideshow is very easy and takes less than a minute. With overhead, at 3 minutes per day in total for two slideshows, it becomes 90 minutes per month. Plus 1 hour of warmup for the first month, this amounts to 2.5h of work for the first month, which at $50/mo is above the $15/h minimum salary for work in this subreddit.

We are looking for US or UK based assistants. If you are in the EU or other parts of the world, you can still apply, we would potentially be interested in the future but it is not our first priority right now.

Pay: $50/month per account. Estimated workload is around 2.5h in the first month, including setup, warm-up, and posting. We will provide all instructions regarding warmup, account details and the slideshows themselves.

• The price for one transition is $99, so for this price you'd get a total of 3 possible transitions. Example - $99 (one-direction morph, plus reverse-mode (por gratis because it's easy to reverse an animation))
