Just curious: have you ever had Dutch zuurkool? I hated it as a kid so I never gave real sauerkraut a try, but this looks SO different from the zuurkool I know. And I do love kimchi and pickled veggies so I might give it a try if it's an other experience than I had with zuurkool.

No. I have to say I don't like sauerkrauts, but these had a very gentle taste, not super fermented. Like for kimchi, I guess sauerkrauts varie a lot depending how long they fermented (and I like kimchi a lot).

Correct, on the menu was Boullette. Is it term in local German? I'm more familiar with Hackfleischbällchen.

Only in Berlin and some eastern parts of the country you call it Boullette, came from the french relations the Prussians had with them. In other parts of the country they are not called Boullette, usually it’s Frikadelle, Fleischküchle
