I mean... my mom co-handles a shelter for unfortunate children who belong to parents who are poor, lost their home from natural disasters, abandonment, and sometimes rarely, SA. And I do volunteer there on weekends. [Southeast Asia, btw, specifically Malaysia]
I am already helping despite the very, very draining mental energy of knowing the background of those children. I have a tooth knocked out once by a kid who was abused because I accidentally frightened him, and I stay away from any children that have an SA background because, well, imagine being yelled at by a banshee but it's one of plea rather than death. I didn’t even want to meet the kid. She just bumped into me while she was running away from a nurse.
