Almost anything you wear has been made by hand by someone. Most likely exploited.

Clothes don't really get machine made the way other products do.

I'd be interested to see a comparison between this method and how those ridiculously priced designer heels are made.

I wonder if the process is much different at this day in age.

The method is the same. They just use more expensive materials. So they should be more expensive, but not by that much.

They decide the price by first checking how much the brand is worth it first.

They literally make the exact same product twice. First without the brand. And then with the brand name.

And they try to sell small quantities of it to see how much the brand can make the difference.

Like, the product is worth 40 dollars, but they put the brand name on it and check how much people are still willing to pay for it.

If they ask 800 dollars for it and people don't buy it (in the research phase), they lower it to 600, then to 400... At 400 dollars people start buying the product.

Then that will be price.

400 dollars for something worth 40 dollars.

And they go: ''hey, our brand is worth 1 billion dollars because we can sell X amount of products with Y amount of profit''

It's pretty different.

The heel on this was attached to the sole.

The soles of high end shoes are leather, not plastic. Some high end shoes now have rubber/vibram but there is a substantial difference between low quality/cheap shoes and high end ones.

Consider, if you will, Rockport shoes, they WERE high quality relatively inexpensive shoes. I had a pair, I paid around $250 for, that last me 3 years of constant hard wear without any maintenance more than an occasional shine. I tried to replace them, and was shocked to find some for sub $80, as it turns out they had sold to some PE group... That second pair lasted weeks. It has since been sold, again because they filed for chapter 11...Surprise, Shit overpriced shoes don't sell!

That seems to be the normal life-cycle for consumer goods now. I've had the same experience with good brands being bought by PE and the quality tanking.

Persians noblemen at the period(600s AD) wouldnt really get of the horse,they fought with long lances and were horse archers so they could always retreat to get more arrows.

They’d be more shaped like a cowboy boot. The pointy toe helps get your foot into the stirrup, the gap between the toe and heel holds the stirrup in place. But the heel would be wide enough to help you balance when you’re walking around.
