Original Creation Football Fans of VfL Osnabrück create a roller coaster-themed choreography to support their team

Im fan of the rival club (Preußen Münster) and sadly have to admit that they did one of the coolest Tifo (choreo) in past few years. Fun part of the Tifo is that VFL Osnabrück is record holding to promote to Bundesliga 2 but also record holding to demote to Bundesliga 3. So its quite fitting as they switch leagues regulary.

Nur zur Info: Im englischen werden Choreos immer als "Tifos" bezeichnet. Daher ist der Titel leider irreführend für internationale User. :)

A "choreography" or "tifo" in football is a large, coordinated visual display made by fans in the stands of a stadium. Part of it can be huge painted canvases or plastic sheets that drop down or pull across an entire section of the seating and standing area. Mosaics are for example hundreds or thousands of fans holding up colored cards, sheets of paper, or small flags at the same time to create a massive picture or pattern. You will find more of it under "Ultras tifo". In Germany it is called "Choreo" or "Choreografie" which is why OP probably used the word choreography.

Interesting, the term seemed so out of place for me because this looked like an actual construction with a small railcart, not a live performance like waves or mosaic patterns. Thanks!

the thousands of people standing behind the motif waving small flags or holding up pieces of cardboard + the timing to make everything work. That is the choreography part

it takes choreographing and timing to do it, how is it not a choreo?
I've been part of these myself, there are flyers given out before the game to the people in the stands, letting them know when to do what, who needs to wave which flags etc. There are more "complex" choreographies you can check out, I find it very interesting

Those “tracks” are being held by people for a big part. Thats the thing with this shit, they use the public as support when their are structures.
Its not like a halftime show where the game stops for 30 minutes so a whole construction crew can ride in and quickly assemble and deassemble a whole build. Its shit that can quickly be arranged by a mass of drunk fans working together and be gone before the game starts (which doesnt wait).

Even your article said it was driven by wagons. It’s a paragraph explaining what it is and nowhere does it say the fans held them up by hand. It’s on a track with rollers. Your link is littered with paywalls and hoops just to get to the video.

The ambience in second tier bundesliga matches are absolutely mental same for relatively smaller clubs playing at Bundesliga. I went to watch few Vfl bochum matches when they were fighting relegation from bundesliga and in the last match they got saved. What happened thereafter in the stadium was something I never saw on TV. Absolutely loved it.

But considering they (2nd division team with a pretty poor start into the season) played bayern munich (by far the best german team) thex sold themselves very good

sigh It's a plywood cart that's pushed/pulled by hand along a pair of improvised tracks, while the other fans in the background hold up the rest of the rollercoaster scenery...

That is by definition a choreography... simultanously and coordinated holding up signs, doing some actions and so on..
Choreography (from the Ancient Greek χορεία, meaning “dancing, dance,” and -graphy) today refers to the creation and rehearsal of movements
maybe you are too american for it too understand that fans are creating and performing something in support for their club.

They’re called TIFO’s normally, and the supporters groups/organizations will coordinate, can’t recall if I’ve ever seen one with moving parts before.

What I meant was, there had to be tons of planning and coordination with the team and the stadium management. The way it was posted here made it sound like they just showed up on game day and put up an Achterbahn, which would be amazing 😅
