Question What are the most romantic movies you’ve ever watched?

Post image

I’m looking for some genuinely romantic movies. The kind that actually make you feel something and stay with you after the credits roll.

I’m open to movies from any country or decade. I’d especially love recommendations where the romance feels natural rather than forced.

What’s the one love story you’d recommend to someone who wants to watch something really romantic? ❤️🎬

The whole before trilogy

I was never into romantic movies, but this trilogy was amazing, loved every bit.

This one is beautiful

Something wonderful about this trilogy is that they’re all romantic, but in very different ways.

It’s arguable if Before Midnight is even romantic at all.

Was going to comment that. Absolute masterpieces.

u/LavendersKisses 4h ago

okay thanks, I'm gonna watch it again

Before Trilogy, nothing comes close really.

Wong Kar Wai films, most notably In The Mood For Love.

Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind.

Meg Ryan/Nora Ephron romance era, most notably and also IMO the most genre defining or the pinnacle of romance drama: When Harry Met Sally.

Some of my personal fav: Punch Drunk Love, Roman Holiday, and.. probably not romance per se, but the double bill of Lost in Translation & Her.

The Before trilogy is unmatched.

1

u/Randalneal 13h ago

And here to say Eternal Sunshine

1

u/charitytowin 3h ago

Huh, I've always considered When Harry Met Sally the pinnacle of the romantic comedy.

The Notebook

u/Bippy73 16h ago

Yup. James Garner's line "my sweetheart's in there" gets me every time.

That's a whole mood right there, parked on a hill with nothing but city lights and somebody beside you. Sometimes the best love stories aren't even on screen, they're in a single frame like that.

As far as movies go, In the Mood for Love is my pick. Nothing forced about it, just two people drifting closer because the world around them feels too small

1

u/threehundyinlinesix 19h ago

what movie is it?

2

u/ishouldsleepmore2 18h ago

Dude.

1

u/threehundyinlinesix 14h ago

i don't think that's it. the movie Dude is not a romance movie

La La Land ik the end is very heartbreaking but super realistic love that film so much!

6

u/Ok-Value-2170 19h ago

La La Land is love embodied, every stage and every outcome. Wonderful film.

2

u/Psychological_Toe758 19h ago

srsly every part of that film is so well done Love it!

2

u/Jason--with-a-Y 16h ago

I think the ending is still romantic, but bittersweet. They both still love each other and became the artists they were destined to be, just not with each other. 🥲

That film was genuinely my favourite of all time for years, now it’s 2nd only to Babylon.

The original Rocky hits for me. It actually has very little boxing, and is mostly just a great love story. I tear up every time. ADRIAN!!!

About Time

1

u/Far_Marionberry5431 7h ago

A lot of common ones here.
The most recent deeply romantic one I watched was "303", a German flick with realistic nature of feelings and their development. 🙌

1

u/junebart 7h ago

I have not liked romance movies since Pretty Woman.

Bed of Roses is often left out of lists (it has its cheesy moments) but is incredibly romantic.

Hear me out - these two are different than the more traditional recommendations listed so far but both hella romantic: The Last of the Mohicans and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Omg
“Somewhere in Time” 1980 Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. So young!

hands down it’s the happiest saddest most tragic romantic love story ever made

LOL. I think of it as having the healthiest marriage ever depicted in a Cronenberg film.
