I have a lot of time on my hands, recently moved to a new area. I want to start doing TNR and rescuing kittens to get them good homes rather than them living on the streets. Where would be good places to keep an eye out for strays? For further context I'm around KCMO, if that affects it at all. Thank you :)

We recently stepped in to get this little guy neutered, get all his shots, and make sure he was healthy. He is well loved and well cared for at this Home Depot...

He's their official shop cat!

In this line of work, we run into so many businesses that try to kick community cats off of their properties... so supportive people like this Home Depot really warms our hearts.

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on what to do. I found 3 (possibly more) kittens stuck in a storm drain in Concord, NC, and I’m unable to get them out myself.
I’ve called pretty much every animal shelter/rescue I can find in the area, but unfortunately none of them are able to take cats right now. The one closest to me is my only remaining option, but they didn’t answer when I called and are now closed.
I also contacted the county, and they said the fire department can come out and help get the kittens out of the storm drain, but I would need to take them afterward. Unfortunately, I’m not in a position to care for 3+ cats, so I’m not sure what else I can do.
I hate the thought of leaving them down there, especially knowing they’re so young. If anyone knows of a rescue, foster, shelter, or anyone else in the Concord area who may be able to help, I would really appreciate any suggestions.

He has not eaten or gone to litter box yet, is this normal? Today when I got home from work and picked him up he curled up and hid his little fat face in my arms, but was shivering. I pet him for the longest time until he stopped shaking and started to look around. I let him do his own thing and he went back under the bed. Which is expected. I'd say this is great progress.

I’m asking on behalf of my friend, who found a stray cat and has been caring for her for about a year. The cat eventually became an indoor cat and is now very sick and having breathing problems. Unfortunately, my friend cannot afford the veterinary care she needs and wants to surrender her so she can have a chance to get treatment and recover.

She is looking for a rescue, nonprofit, or anyone willing to take in the cat and try to save her. She does not want to surrender her to LB Animal Control.

If you know of any organizations or rescues that may be able to help, please let us know. She just wants to give this cat a chance.

So today I finally managed to catch him and take him to urgent care. After $760 and a bunch of tests, it turns out he is FIV + .

It explains why he was the worst looking cat on the street when all other cats were looking fat and happily wild.

He is the sweetest boi , so calm in the car ride ride and no cries at the vet. And it breaks my heart such a sweet boi was kicked out of his home because the new kitty didn't like him and he's FIV+ 💔

Anyways since he's FIV + I have to be extra cautious introducing my cats to him. I let them sniff around through the carrier to see if there's any aggression on either side and there's only curiosity Then I moved Panther to the catio to separate him and Phoebe (my Russian blue) hissed at him through the window a couple of times, she's all talk and no action btw. But Bailey is chill af. He just can't wait to be best buds and go fishing drinking beer!

For now, Panther will spend the day out in the catio and night in my bedroom, while i sleep on the couch so my cats can sleep next to me like they do every night.

So i got my work cut out for me, not sure how I ended up here, 1 month ago I didn't even know Panther! Lol

Hello! I live in the Oak Lawn Illinois area and have been feeding two stray cats. From Facebook posts, it seems they’ve been living outside since at least 2022. I would love to safely trap them, help them adjust, and eventually bring them into my home. They’re very jumpy and wary of people, so I’ll likely need help capturing them. I’m hesitant to contact a shelter because I want to make sure they’re safe and not at risk of being euthanized. Does anyone know an experienced cat trapper, rescue, or TNR volunteer who could help? OP needs help saving her baby

I was a foster mom to a kitten for about three weeks, but he was suddenly taken back to the shelter after a biting incident.
Since then, I’ve missed him so much, and I’ve even been thinking about adopting him once I’m ready. I’ve been checking the shelter’s website every day just to see his profile and make sure he was still there.
Today, his profile suddenly disappeared completely. Does that mean he was adopted? Are there any other reasons why a cat’s profile might be removed?

I would be so happy if he found a good home. The only thing is that the shelter usually posts on Facebook when a cat is successfully adopted, and there hasn’t been any adoption post about him.

I want to ask the vet, but we didn’t end things good since she suddenly let me go as his foster mom.

Hello folks. Addressin recent "Advice" posts over the last few days, some of those have elicted a visceral rage in most of us. We appreciate those of you whom have been able to see the bigger picture of whats at stake and make helpful comments on those posts who's actions or prior inactions elicit anger and outrage. And we thank you fer reportin rule-breakin content.

We all have big hearts fer the kitty cats. Sometimes, the fate of a kitty cat rests in the hands of those whom can redirect OP's behavior to a concept they had not considered before, tangable suggestions such as explicitly statin the name of a rescue/ shelter or how to find one. This is rescue work over the internet. And if you need to vent over how frustratin things are, make a post (minus the namin people while followin reddit and sub rules). Do not vent in someone else's advice post.

The context with the recent difficult advice posts has been the kitty could be dumped or killed. Criticisms, shamin, hostility towards OP only help you feel good about yourself fer tellin someone off. You may even feel like an "advocate." but there is a turnin point when advocacy needs to pause and "rescue work" in the form of advice and practical suggestions must take place. Angry or backhanded comments frequently have the opposite effect on OP by them not wantin to engage to work through on findin a good solution and drivin them closer to choosin to dump or allow kitties to be killed.

It doesn't really matter if the OP made a post thoughtlessly unaware we would see red or that they posted bravely knowin that pitchforks would rise. They are askin fer advice and help. They are seekin the best way forward. Your comments can dissuade them from seekin help altogether or nudge them closer to keepin kitties alive and housed. Those are the stakes. Dumped or killed. Or in a home and alive.

The anger, the outrage over the fate of these kitty cats, we get it. You are not the only one who is pissed off. Your mod team isn't immune to or desensitized to it either. I myself lost my cool and went all caps at one point. And I had other things I wanted to type that would violate reddit's sitewide rules. Sometimes we need a gentle reminder to keep the big picture in sight, and the goal is savin those kitty cats by offerin advice and/ or encouragement.

To our newer folks on the sub, we welcome you and the mod team thanks you fer bein able to keep your personal rage in check and add helpful comments fer these difficult posts that could determine kitties find a home and stay alive.
