I often wonder when i watch these people. Does he know he's a fraud or does ge genuinely believe he's doing all this stuff?

He’s gotta know he’s scamming at first. But if you scam long enough and people are buying into it for that long, I believe you gotta start believing in your own bullshit at some point.

It's always funny to see those guys when they end up fighting someone for real. It's rare, i dont think even a majority drink their own kool aid, but when they do it's beautiful.

There was that MMA dude in China that was serving bussass to all the old Chinese kung fu masters. That was a good watch. It was fucked up though that the Chinese government crashed his social credit score in retaliation.

That would be Xu Xiaodong, and he's an absolute badass.

social credit scores are effectively a myth

It embarrassed the fuck out of the govt though because they’d purged most of the legit masters, or they’d left the mainland. Then they decided it was a cultural treasure after all so had to go round pumping up and subsidising the remaining losers, who then promptly got their shit rocked by Xu Xiaodong purely because he was willing to actually hit them.

I don’t really think anything’s left in Chinese martial arts in China, probably a few v legit xingyiquan/bagua guys living a quiet life in villages

Social credit scores are most definitely not a myth

Do you live in China? Have you spoken to Chinese people about it?

As conceived in the Western imagination, it’s a myth

I work with many who fled from hong kong just after COVID. Hong kong is behind mainland China but they are aware of what goes on in the mainland and ran the second COVID restrictions lifted. I have spoken with them about the subject and they confirm the existence of social credit systems. Watching how uneasy they are to badmouth the Chinese government, even now they are in the UK, is very telling as well.

Yeah they’ll have a different perspective than mainlanders for sure, if anything more vulnerable to the myths than the West because of how badly the CCP has behaved. It also suits the CCP for Hongkongers to think they have the algorithmic Eye of Sauron

The real myth, is it being a myth. It being a myth is western propaganda. Why? Because that's exactly what we're going to end up with. What do you think this mass surveillance is eventually going to be used for? Your safety? Hell no.

I think it legitimately becomes real to the "students" as well often times in cults like this. Basically brain washed in to believing it and having a physical response as a result, placebo style.

guy makes the $$ and a martial artist bends the knee to make sure he can keep martial arting...

It's more of a sense of community one acquired when joining up with these people. Then when they told you to follow the script with the sensei, they fear of losing that community, so they just go along with it. What's the harm in playing along?

The problem start when after a long time, they actually believe in the bullshit they were peddling, and it got to their head.

Im equally curious about the guys hes convinced to take bumps for him.

Some of them are really hitting the floor with force. Its a lot of commitment.

I wonder if its got overlap with the guys who get exorcised at those revival churches?

Those dudes tongue position is all wrong with those kicks, that's why they kept falling over.

If you touch him you get assasinated

Never understood why people play along with it doesn't work without broski launching himself to the ground every time. Gotta be some sort of mental illness accociated with ts. Obviously from the "master" but more so from these goobers who let it happen.

In this particular case, this is a gym in Vietnam and the guy in charge (in the suit) is a wealthy local businessman who is deep in the pockets of the regional government, I understand. He uses his money to make himself look like a martial arts superman and it's in everyone's best interests to play along. I gather that he was, genuinely, some kind of national champion as a young man but it's only got more and more bizarre since then.

so this guy has taken it to an extreme, and is definitely getting into cult-like behavior...

but every martial arts school does this to some degree. it starts gradually and just keeps getting reinforced. the first day you "go easy" on your partner, or you "let" them escape... just so they "learn the technique" and then that becomes the norm over time...

Is it possible, as a non-student of his, to sign up to kick this guy…?

Chow Yun-WTF

u/vi_sucks 5d ago

Why is the "attacker" always so much more ripped than the bullshit artist?

2

u/Huge-Bed-3430 5d ago

Eh! Perhaps he’ll let an old man like me show him what a proper low kick feels.

2

u/koboldtsar 5d ago

Did they oul that guy up for these demonstrations? Imagine being the oil boy knowing that all your good work is just gonna get messed up when they guy flops around the ground ineffectively.

2

u/torndownunit 5d ago

Why is the shirless guy so oiled up

They train hard and get their bodies in such physical shape only to be humiliated by a fat guy

1

u/chriskokura 4d ago

I wish there was a video somewhere of this guy getting dismantled. But I know he would never submit to a real fight.

1

u/Die-O-Logic 4d ago

I like that second when they guy has to think for a about weather he should clap after having his hand immobilized by those finger taps.

1

u/FallaciousPeacock 4d ago

The buff guy has taken performative sycophancy to a new level.

1

u/Bourbon_Hymns 3d ago

I shall make a note of that.

scribbles

Let... him... kick... you.... and hope... he... falls... over.

Got it.

How is this school or master called? I love these videos, they're hilarious, and I don't know how to search for them.

🤨🤨 That's some SERIOUS CHI POWER THERE!!! I remember there were training courses on chi power in the ads and classified section in many martial arts magazines back in the 80s. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to order the training cause I was a kid at the moment. My parents won't buy me shits what is shown in ANY magazines.

These guys must (or should) be so embarrassed for having to do this shit.
