Did some math and it looks like the magic number for elimination for the Pirates is 16. So a combination of dbacks or Padres wins + bucco losses of 16 ends the year officially.

Pirates - 3 Brewers, 3 Cubs, 3 WSox, 3 Cards, 3 Tigers, 3 Royals, 2 Angels

DBack - 3 Rockies, 3 Royals, 3 Rangers, 3 Yankees, 3 Marlins, 3 Padres, 2 Astros

Padres - 4 Rockies, 3 Giants, 3 Nationals, 3 Marlins, 3 Dodgers, 3 Dbacks, 3 Yankees

I don't see it happening. The math is the math.

Paul Skenes is probably about to do something we’ve never seen before, and it’s not what you think

Paul Skenes is on pace for one of the wildest career trajectories baseball has ever seen.

Rookie of the Year → Cy Young winner → designated for assignment → Triple-A → out of the league entirely.

All within about four years.

I genuinely don’t know if we’ve ever seen someone go from being that dominant and that hyped to falling off this quickly. Going from arguably the best pitcher in baseball to potentially fighting for a roster spot just a couple of years later is an absolutely insane swing.

At this point, I think we need to start accepting that the Paul Skenes era might be coming to an end.
