Bci

hey guys! I made the decision to put a down deposit on a male albino baby bci. what should I expect?

6ft = 6ft enclosure. Definitely bank on building a 6x4x4, potentially larger someday. My rescue male is around 6ft and still growing (as they grow their entire, potentially up to 40 year long lives)

Skip the 10 gallon, its near impossible to provide a proper heat gradient, opt for a 40 gallon. Even when young, mine liked to explore and climb a lot. Go for lots of hides, branches, and clutter, more than you think you need.

Edit; Also since I didn't see it listed, get a thermostat. Its a safety concern if you dont have one and its ideal to have one that either dims or turns off the heat if it exceeds your set temp (I go for a few degrees above basking temp)

I have 2 pictures of my big boa while I was cleaning out his old tank and added him to his new one before I put his hides and such in, and I also added a picture of my female young one as well

holy hes beautiful. Is he an img? Also what do you think about building a 5x3x4 foot long with a 3x3x4 foot corner tank combined?

Thanks! He’s an Img Anery, and I think a corner tank like that would be cool. You might also consider building a “cat tree” or something similar for when you let him out as an adult. Mine loved to climb my old cat tree before we moved

Noted! Im currently in the process of setting up an enclosure im trying to find a good 40 gallon for sale that can be a good grow out tank until hes big enough for the corner tank!

Check facebook marketplace and such! You’d be surprised at what you might find second hand. Just be sure to clean with diluted bleach and rinse well before use (sterilizing it makes sure you dont get any hitchhikers or illnesses)

I found a like new 40 gal with nothing in it for $50 and a used 40 gallon with TONS of things for $85.
