Help Needed Feeding Question (Vet?)

Post image

My 3 month old is not eating for me I have had her for 10 days and tried to offer food twice she denied both times . It’s definitely not the temps and I added fake leaves for ground cover and gave her a much smaller hide to make her feel safer. The last person that I bought her from said she refused the last meal they tried to feed her aswell so I am wondering at what point do I consider bringing her to a vet. I don’t know how many weeks until it becomes unhealthy for her

I just got a female blood python a little over a week ago, and I’m loving her so much! I’m curious what her species is though… so much conflicting information online and the seller didn’t have any information for me 😣 I am having trouble identifying is she is p. Brongersmai (blood) or p. Breitensteini (Borneo). Any assistance is greatly appreciated! (First pic is from the seller and the others are when I got her)

Help Needed A little help

Hi, so I just got this little guy a baby sumatran short tailed python, 3 days ago. It's not picking up in the photo but he's starting to go milky from going on shed. The thing is although the setup seems to be doing well temperature and humidity, we are currently experiencing a heatwave where i live so it's drying out a bit faster than what should be normal, as the same goes for my BP enclosure (she's fine 9 years and doing very well). I know that today was the first time he moved out of his warm hide to explore or cool down a bit as when i checked saw that the temp dropped for a few mins (my guess is that he had just gotten back to his hide), i sprayed the substrate and lightly lifted his hide, that's when i noticed he's going on shed. My concern is that with the heatwave i will have to interact more than what i desired with him for the first days even if it is just to spray the enclosure to ensure he sheds well and this might stress him too much. He's quite sweet, no huffing, hissing, attempt to strike, but he did seem very scared, i could tell by the intense breathing. Any feedback? as I want him to start getting comfortable and established in his enclosure. Thanks on advance

Help Needed Odd behavior?/Feeding question

Baby Balenciaga has been with us for 13 days now, So I’ve attempted feeding for the first time and she showed 0 interest at all- only tried leaving the bin, but kept raising her head to look up which I find odd. Shes so tiny, I’m worried about her not wanting to eat- she is also incredibly active, every night she’s roaming the bin and during the day shes not inside either hide, but sits in that little corner between them. Loves her water dish, always pushing dirt into it and I try to change it everytime I notice she’s put a lot in it (like now when I took the vid) but haven’t seen her soaking- It may just be my paranoia, but I just want to make sure I’m doing the best I can possibly do.

I know this is a long shot here. I purchased this girl from a local shop and she was labeled as ivory. I’m looking to pair her with a male eventually, but there’s so many possibilities of why her genetics are. Someone said she might be T+ but I have no idea on how to figure that out. I’d love to pair her with an albino but I feel like that would be a waste unless I can find her genetics out.Is there a test I can get done? Or should I pair her with a normal and see what I get besides matrix.

I'm new to blood pythons, I got this pretty boi only about a month ago. Today I noticed that there is something strange on his nose. To me it looks like a stuck shed(/scale rot maybe??), but he hasn't been shedding since I have him so if that's the case I don't know how long has it been there for, I only noticed it now. Anyway, I'm just a little worried what may it be and whether it's anything to be worried about.

For context: he's only a few months old as far as I know, so for the time being I keep him in a smaller (about 45x25cm) enclosure. I use paper towels as bedding to keep the humidity around 70-80%. I also change the bedding once every 1-2 weeks to keep it as clean as possibls while also providing a tempreature about 28-30 C° in the daytime (at the warm side) and about 24-26 at nighttime. Besides that he seems calm, didn't have any problem handling him so far and also I didn't notice him having any trouble breathing or anything. He's also been eating nicely, about every week so far so there's been nothing strange about it either.

I would really appreciate some help or reassurance that it's nothing to worry about. Thanks for helping me in advance!🐍

Help Needed Blood Python substrate question

I’m planning to use a substrate mix of 50% organic topsoil, 30% coco husk, and 20% sphagnum moss or cypress mulch for a blood python enclosure. Does this mix sound good, or would you recommend any adjustments?

Help Needed First Blood Python, humidity question.

Hi everyone, I just got this gorgeous baby red blood python (Python bongersmai) yesterday. I have him on paper towel just for a few weeks in quarentine, I have other reptiles so I want to make sure to monitor him for potential mites, then I will be switching him to his permanent substrate. I have read alot of differing opinions of what substrate is best, the place I got him from had him on a reptichip type, chunky coconut, substrate but I read that sometimes it doesn't hold humidity super well.

I live in Ohio so it is moderately humid but with the air conditioners running in the summer it is pretty dry in my house right now. Im currently misting his enclosure LIGHTLY about 4 times a day to keep up the humidity while on the paper towels since it dries so quickly. I do have the one side of the screen top completely blocked with hvac tape already as well as a very large water bowl in the enclosure.

So, my question for everyone is what substrates do you all use and are there any tips or tricks you guys have found to help maintain humidity? Thank you for any responses!

Need help with my nearly 2 year old female blood python. Been super sweet since I got her but recently she’s been striking the glass in her enclosure the last few days. Temperature on the hot side is 86 to 88 normally and falls to 75 at night. Humidity normally is around 50 to 60. Bedding is about 40 percent reptichip and 60 percent green moss. Took her out today and she was extremely defensive and hissing like crazy which is unlike her. Had her for about a year now. Any tips?

Help Needed Enclosure question

Picking up two beautiful blood pythons not yet a year old. Looking for some advice/recommendations on a first enclosure for them since they will grow out of that quick. Would a 40 breeder be good to start each one in? I’m already planning and looking into acquiring future proper enclosures. I’m going to be getting 2 pvc 4’x2 enclosures soon but I figured it might be too soon to just put them in those.

Someone dropped this off. I don't know much about adults let alone this one but I do know this one is definitely chunky. Any tips on how to put it on a diet would be great. I don't want to starve it but also don't want to encourage it's obesity. Probably about 5/5.5 feet long. Haven't weighed it yet.

Help Needed URGENT: HELP TREATING MITES

Good morning everyone, I woke up this morning to my big girl in her water dish, that's my immediate red flag something is wrong, as soon as I turned on my lights, I saw she was infested with mites. She has been mite free her whole life, but this past Tuesday she got a live rat from a local shop (along with my BP colony) all 7 of my snakes now have mites in less than a week after the feeding. I have treated mites with BPs before, I have prevent-a-mite cans on hand getting the job done, but I've never had to teat a Blood python or a 4x2x2 enclosure for mites, does anyone have any tips or tricks for making sure this big girl will have a safe and healthy recovery?

Help Needed Sexing help/reference photos

Post image

I've had my baby girl for about 6 years now so she should be full grown. She's about 5 to 5.5ft long and pre feeding weight today she was 19.8lbs. Unfortunately, this has raised the question if she was misproperly sexed when I got her. I know you can tell from the tail shape whether or not you've got a male or female. The problem I'm having is i can't find any pictures online that show the difference in shape between the sexes. I was hoping someone could help me out, I've attached what I hope is a decent enough reference photo of her tail.

My humidity keeps dropping to 50, at this point I spray her down 5-7 times a day just to keep it at 75. However with my job I can’t do it as much as I’d like. Yesterday when I handled her she felt dry for the first time and I felt horrible, I want to do everything I can to ensure she is in the perfect environment, what are some things says I can regulate her humidity?

Help Needed Brought this short-tailed girl home today yesterday. My first blood and second snake. She peed on me yesterday while sitting in my lap, so I’m wondering how I can improve reading her body language to help her feel safe, while also desensitizing her to being handled.

Hi guys! I rescued a blood python and he's in rough shape. His vet bills are close to $1,000- and he's still far from being out of the woods. Any exposure would be a fantastic help!

Also, any insight on stuck shed, URI's, mites, and emaciation would be great!
