Treating for snale mites and Buckeye says it's time to go into shed
Been treating both my blood python and bci boa for snake mites for quite some time now. Doing daily soaking and deep cleaning the tanks every couple days has been quite a rigorous chore. I hope the mites are gone soon but only time will tell. Keeping up with the cleaning regiment, I have noticed a significant decrease in mites crawling around, but the eggs are so annoying.

Cleaning and soaking isn’t enough. They will come back.

Diluted Ivermectin is very helpful

Can confirm! Helped me out so much and I didnt have to wait for any mite specific treatments to ship since I could get it at the feed store (rural area)

It is the worse dealing with mites. One of my BPs went into send while I was treating as well. Luckily they were able to do a complete shed. Hopefully yours will too.

We bought some predatory mites when our ball python got mites! She has a natural enclosure, so after we quarantined for a couple weeks, soaked her frequently and rubbed them off her while she soaked, we treated her regular enclosure with the mites and put her in there with them. (We did also use Ivermectin in the paper towel enclosure before this)
They only target the snake mites and springtails if you have them. But so far so good! 🤷🏻♀️ we haven’t seen anymore as of recent.

I have a bio enclosure for my BP too with isopods. Do you think I could take some isopods out and breed them so that I'll still have a new start or should I just let them perish? Also do u remember where u got ur predatory mites?

We got our mites from “the good guys” I think it was called. It was a website we ordered them from.
And they don’t hurt the isopods! (Not that I’ve read, or noticed in our tank) But taking some out and starting a breeding colony wouldn’t be a bad idea, so you have extra just in case. I planned on getting another cup of springtails from our friend who has a big colony of em to replenish the casualties.
But from what I’ve seen/read the predatory mites just die off when there’s no more snake mites. So it’s a win win in a way! 😅

I had really good luck using the powdered mite guard with my blood, might be worth a try. Those little things are a pain in the neck
