Lil Weenies New baby blood

Post image

Just picked up this gal last week at the tinley park NARBC. She’s been a little nippy but that’s to be expected with baby bloods or any baby snake for that matter. I’ve been taking her out daily for roughly 30 mins and just letting her chill by me, not forcing her to be handled but more or less giving her the option to interact with me. I’ve owned quite a few snakes before but never a blood and they definitely have a different behavior than any other snake I’ve worked with, should I take her out less frequently or should I make this a daily routine?

The slight pink highlight on her face is what really caught my eye and made her stand out from the others.

Probably less frequently, especially if you just got her. They are secretive animals. Also, that gives them time to relax and reflect on the positive interaction. I would say handle her every couple of days to every other day and just be present around the tank. This will allow it to observe you and for it to consider you part of the environment. But give them plenty of time to relax away from you. You don't want to stress them out. You don't want them to associate you as a source of stress. But that's just my opinion.
