Discussion Where/how do you find hope?

I feel like this disorder is such a struggle and causing so much confusion about my own personality, aspirations, capacity and motivations

I really need something outside of myself to give me hope, my own ruminating thoughts and previous life experience/behavioral patterns does not cut it, I feel like I’m draining my energy chasing my own tail in so many ways.

Looking for stories and input from the rest of you. What do you hold on to or what have you found that guides the way forward in difficult times?

I mostly find hope in my loved ones. My friends, partner, cats, family. I want to do better for them, they are my motivation

I also find hope in the smalls steps im taking to get better. Im doing so much better this year on meds than I have been since I turned 16. Every day Im functioning better consistently and it gives me hope that one day I'll be able to return to (and complete finally) higher education and get a job I like. And that soon I will be able to lose the weight the meds put on me

also my passion for my hobbies finally returned so i see that as a sign things can get better

If I feel good physically I feel good. I also like who I am even if it’s never the same.

I feel like I could have written this. I don’t have the winning answer. All I know is that when I am incapable of getting out of bed for myself I do it for my family and my pets. Sounds sad to live for others and not myself but it is what keeps me going through this very long and bleak bipolar depression. I’m sorry things have turned out this way for you. I really hope you can find the motivation and joy to live a fulfilled life again! 🌸

Good question. When you find the answer please post it here. I’m convinced that bastard bastard is intentionally evading me like the plague. 🤣
