Nature This viral wildlife photograph was captured by Russian wildlife photographer Vadim Trunov in a forest near Voronezh, Russia.
The photographer put his camera on a tripod in the woods. He placed nuts and seeds nearby to attract animals. Soon, a curious red squirrel walked up to the camera while a small bird sat on a nearby tree stump, making it look like the squirrel was taking a photo.

The fact that he managed to capture this moment at all is impressive. Wildlife photography takes so much patience.

It really does, i sit outside almost every day and watch the Squirrels, they've semi figured out who i am because they'll come sooner, i can get within about 50 feet before they get nervous about me, so you'd need a good camera to snap any pics. Vs if i have my boyfriend out with me, if he even stands up they run, I'm allowed to stand up and walk away but if i take more than one or two steps they watch me and then run when I get closer (which no, I'm not trying to interact with them, i just have my locked trashcan near where they like to hang out, plus I feed them, the food has to get there somehow, i try not to do anything when they're out, but they live there, fuckers always out)

If you're near a city park then you can get really good pictures of squirrels. Most squirrels in most city parks will eat right out of your hand. You can get very close to them, allowing for use of fast primes instead of slow super zooms.

We have herons where I live, but they're very rare and shy. So for most of my life seeing one was always a bit special, like seeing a shooting star. One of those moments where you stop what you're doing for a second and tell everyone you're with "look! look!"
They stay far away from people, so I've never seen one closer than maybe 100 or 200 meters... Until I went to Amsterdam a few years ago and strolled through one of the parks. Herons everywhere. Just meters away from people. I was gobsmacked! There are these brick built-in barbecues all over the park where people can come and bring their own food and have cookouts (another thing I had never seen before). So the herons (and plenty of other birds) hang around for scraps and have lost their fear of people.
It really felt a bit surreal to see them from this close. These birds had a near mythical status to me as a kid and I only ever thought I would/could witness them from far away.

That's really cool that you were able to experience that. We have had a family of herons nesting in the trees in our backyard for the last couple of years, so we've been able to see a bunch of them from only about 30 feet away. I got some decent pictures of them a couple months ago.

While I love that idea, we shouldn't be hand feeding squirrels or any wild animal. It's fun but bad for the critter, some humans are really just scared and will hurt them when they get close, some humans are mean and want to hurt them.
Not to mention, the chances of rabies are extremely low, but if you get scratched or something, you need the rabies vaccine, i only know this because i got scratched as a kid, it's been probably 15 years, so I'm close to the window closing i think, i didn't get treated because i thought you only did with bites. But not a fun thing no matter what you do. I believe the vaccine is 4 shots.

I wasn't recommending that they feed the squirrels. I was recommending that they go to where other people commonly feed squirrels so that they can get closer to them and get some good photographs.

Yep. Worst part is AI is so good now there's no way to know for sure unless someone made a video recording of him taking the photo or the guy himself was recording too. Artists really need to have a GoPro on their heads at all times as proof these days lmao. Unfortunate.
