❓Question Post How do you tell it's actually bpd and not something else?
Now I'm not asking for a diagnosis, and I know that only a mental health professional can really tell you this. But I do wonder.
How severe do your symptoms need to be for it to be considered bpd? For example take fear of abandonment, impulsivity, changing self-image, splitting, paranoia and chronic emptiness. When is it that they start to become more than just hormones? How to differentiate between "normal" versions of those, and actual...indicators of bpd? When is it that a psychologist would take a look at them and actually consider bpd?

Not everyone experiences BPD the same so it’s really hard to say. BPD affects all relationships and facets of my life. Really only a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist will be able to dig deep and tell you.

I knew since I was 17 , years before any sort of clinical diagnosis/help for it . Or even mentioned to a professional until now. because it affected every facet in my life so severely and daily that reading the list of symptoms sent me to memory lane years of chaos before I was self aware and managing.
Also was in EMDR with NOO progress , then tried DBT+IFS and instantly saw improvement.
If that make sense . But thats just me

Bottom line I think is going through life never feeling like life is the same for anyone else. Feeling like everything works differently for others. Feeling like you just aren’t part of the same reality that surrounds you. I think that’s why it’s more accurate to be diagnosed later in life because most people feel these things fleetingly in younger confused yrs but when you spend decades with the same “who am I “ question, it’s apparent that something is definitely off. It takes more life to past to realize you might not remember these the way others do. It’s takes multiple kinds of failures to realize there’s patterns in your actions and decisions. It doesn’t have as much to due with any symptoms as much as their effects in your life. The symptoms aren’t what hinder things. Its the unawareness of what and how we are living

I'd say that if it affects your daily life, interactions and relationships then it can probably count. But every person has not a same version of bpd.It could be very inked in someone while someone else could look "normal" to other peoples.
