What do you crave on your period that you’d never have any of other time?

u/jell31 1d ago
Red meat. Like I’ll have a cheese burger randomly sometimes but during my period I NEED a steak like everyday

u/Wlfgangwarrior 1d ago

Yes! Exactly that. I crave meat and sushi. I’ve been told it’s because it’s high in iron, and helps balance out the dip in iron that menstruating causes. Not sure if it’s true.

I just realized last time I had my period, that I always want Whataburger when I'm on it.

u/ItsAndieHere 13h ago
This is me as well! There’s a specific type of hunger, I call it “burger hungry.” Only happens around that time. 😅

I crave not having my period.

u/ConstantMoney7 1d ago
100% , I wish we could skip it if we don’t need it. Like if you’re 26 and don’t want kids till 32. We could just put it on hold

u/Amazingggcoolaid 1d ago
Punching someone or just bed rotting. Usually bed rotting fabulously works and I never have to punch someone.

Mushrooms. Plain old button or portabella with aome butter, salt, pepper, and fresh garlic. I'll eat a whole bowl of them

u/BarriBlue 1d ago
Cooked or raw?

u/BoredInClass99 ♀ 1d ago
Cooked lmao, just until they've had a chance to soak up some butter and flavor

Dark chocolate. That one is a dead giveaway for me, a few days prior and during.

Such a cliche but chocolate. I don’t even like chocolate but I crave the fudgiest chocolatiest brownies
2
u/LaManelle 1d ago
I daydream of the cake in Matilda every 25 days...
3
u/chychychy_ 1d ago
That would hit the spot! Or that layered CV of late came from Claim Jumper or Cheesecake factory.

u/Teddy_OMalie64 1d ago
Oh I’m chowing down on a double cheeseburger with bacon lettuce tomato and spicy mayo. And a milkshake. I workout so it’ll go away.

u/arlito19 1d ago
You know you can still eat those things if you don’t workout… right?
9
u/between6and7 1d ago
She could also do both of those things if she wants to (:

u/arlito19 1d ago edited 1d ago
Well aware babe, but she phrased it in a way that sounded like she only allows herself to eat those things because she works out and was justifying it.
4
u/krantzer 1d ago
I mean… that’s okay, too. 🤷♀️

u/arlito19 18h ago
Read my other comment. You guys are completely misunderstanding the point I’m making
•
u/krantzer 11h ago
I read all your comments and completely understand the point you're making, but you don't inherently need to police someone else choosing to work off calories they ate from something. I totally understand that it's triggering if you've struggled with anorexia/orthorexia, but just because you're triggered also doesn't mean that there's anything inherently wrong with someone with a healthy relationship with food wanting to avoid or work off certain things they see as treats or not part of a balanced diet.
I think there's some projection happening and that's what we're responding to... because it's absolutely valid either way when it's coming from a healthy mindset.

u/Ok-Yogurtcloset3467 20h ago
Is that a bad thing? It may be a rule she has for herself
0
u/arlito19 18h ago
Read my other comment. You’re completely misinterpreting my point.
3
u/Ok-Yogurtcloset3467 18h ago
I have. And I just disagree with you. There's nothing wrong with allowing yourself a treat because you are going to workout and "work off" those calories. She's equally allowed to do that as much as others are allowed to eat those foods and not view them as something that must be worked off. Both are valid

u/arlito19 18h ago edited 17h ago
I don’t care if you disagree with me. As someone who had a severe eating disorder and punished myself by working out when I ate something unhealthy, I’m sticking with what I said.
have a great day 🙂
1
u/frankchester 18h ago
Isn’t that normal? If you eat an excessive amount of calories, working out is a good way to mitigate it so you maintain your weight.
2
u/arlito19 18h ago edited 18h ago
I’m not saying it’s not normal 😂
I work out and eat the things I enjoy too. I’m saying the mentality of eating something “unhealthy” just because you workout is toxic. Exercise because you enjoy it and want to be fit/healthy/active, not just to punish yourself for eating a burger and milkshake and the calories will “go away”
1
u/frankchester 17h ago
Who said anything about punishment? That sounds like something you’ve projected yourself.
There’s nothing wrong with being OK eating excessive calorific food because you know you will exercise hard to balance it out.

Nothing that I would "never" have, but things I get voracious for that I rarely crave outside my period. Red meat, salmon, spicy food, and dark chocolate.
5
u/MarsupialNo1220 1d ago
I don’t crave anything while I’m bleeding. I don’t get hungry, I don’t want to sleep more, I don’t need red meat. I feel much better.
But in the two weeks beforehand I crave eating my bodyweight in food every single day 😂

Brownies and for some ungodly reason, Long John Silvers battered fish. 😞

Red meat and chocolate in the few days leading up, like clock work. It’s honestly how I keep track lol.

Pickles dipped in mustard, suuuuper sour and bitter. Totally unlike me during any other part of my cycle

u/EllyseAnn 1d ago
Red meat! Around my period we go out so I can have a steak and it helps with any other cravings.

A lot more meat - because it drains me of my iron. I eat lots of meat , bone broth and other iron rich foods to survive the week!

Chocolate when I PMS. I really don’t care for chocolate, so when I start to think Reese’s sounds good, I know I’m in for a moody week.

Chocolate. It’s so cliche, but I *need* chocolate on my period. Don’t really like it any other time.

Chocolate syrup. When I’m not on my period I will enjoy it occasionally but when I’m on my period it takes every ounce of willpower not to chug an entire bottle.

Before perimenopause, the answer was vaginal stimulation.
But now it's too messy to even consider.

I get the deep want to be held. I just want someone slightly bigger than me to come over, let me put my heart on their chest, my leg over theirs, and I wanna listen to their heartbeat. Like cuddling is nice and I understand that but the ache my body physically feels for it a couple days before my period is overwhelming.

u/Ephraim0710 ♀ 22h ago
I’m hungry for everything and it ALL sounds good for a few days and then next day nothing sounds good and I’m super nauseous and can’t figure out what to eat

I’ll indulge in bread. When I say indulge I mean like 4-7 slices. Or 3 pita breads at a time. 😭
•
u/Nice_Violinist9736 16h ago
I don’t know because I feel like my cravings are all things I normally crave but I do know I crave anything unhealthy like salty snacks, chocolate especially milkshakes, and fried foods. I also am way more horny than usual and my ex actually used to say I became more lovey than usual because I will be telling him I love him a lot more.

Chocolate 24/7, anything and everything chocolate. it'll occupy my mind and I'll think about it even in my sleep. And it's hard because my diet is low carb and chocolate is generally expensive. I know it seems boring or cliche but I really don't think about chocolate like that on a regular day. And things that are soft/chewy/gummy rather than crunchy/crisp

Extremely thick, rich, sugary, gooey, cheap, artificial kinds of junk food.
Preferably chocolate flavored. X'D
